Stummbled across this the other night.
I realise it's an auction, but there are still some great deals (I believe) to be had.

Although the auction has a finish date, it will likely reappear on GreysOnline - untill the stock is sold.

First post, so I hope it is okay, and you find a bargain! Might get myself a rotary drill :)

Cheers Grange. Just be careful for 2 reasons.

    1. GMC has gone bust so no warranty
    2. Grays online usually charge 12% buyers "fee" and their delivery charges are expensive.

Welcome to Ozbargain though, trust me it becomes addictive !

    • +1 for your comments Steven … especially on shipping to melbourne …. ouch

Buyer's fee usually 15% now. The silly thing is that the bidders are paying way too much IMHO for these. Some are/were available at DealsDirect for a lot less so be careful that you have compared prices before bidding.

  • Likewise - sometimes Grays bidders go above "bargain" reality. Also they use prices in their descriptions which is often based on their original prices - not the latest discounted prices - NOTE their term ORP (Original retail price)

This is especially true of their electrical items such as TV's and sound systems. The bidding is so strange I often wonder if there isnt shrill bidding. although I guess like all auctions some people just dont know true value - and since this is a bargain site thats what we here are looking for

Then there's the buyers fee's which over time have steadily increased. Guess someone is making more in a recession……. Likewise their shipping fees aren't in the bargain basement arena either

So while this isn't a bargain per se, I guess posting it here alerts potential bargain hunters to the dangers

  • I should add that if you are careful there are some good deals on Grays. I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years and been very happy but I've also seen some stupid bidding.

Totally agree with the two comments above mine… ORP is so misleading and that's what probably leads to the stupid bidding

Having said that, I've been a frequent Grays customer… recently won a high end Vaio for $1250 delivered, checked everything out, all in good nick! Shame about the warranty though (3 mths).

  • Well i wouldnt rate gmc better than ozito in regards to tools. Actually ozito offer 3yr replacement warranty on majority of there products. I bought a 215mm compound saw recently for 79.95. On grays they have a gmc compound saw for 89 and god knows how much it will sell for + delivery

  • 15% fee and ridiculous shipping make this not such a great deal.
Plus you may have trouble finding replacement parts for the GMC products (for two reasons … 1 - nobody stocks them, 2 - GMC are no longer a company).
Pity I bought all new GMC equipment early last year, just before the company died.
