    • Maybe one day. Ask Bunnings

I've never seen these offers for Ryobi.

    • +2

bunnings are the exclusive seller in Australia so no price beat competition available and much less generous promotions compared to other popular tool brands. If I could do over, I would have avoided ryobi and just stuck with ozito + another premium brand.

      • -2

bunnings are the exclusive seller in Australia so no price beat competition available

Aren't there monopoly laws in this country?

        • They are the sole distributor of ryobi but the product line still compete against all these other product lines that do the same thing hence my original comment that I should have chosen another ecosystem

      • -1

        and just stuck with ozito

Isn't that also exclusive to Bunnings?

        • +1

Yes but at least they discount this product line against Aldi and have frequent promotions on tools and batteries.

          • -2

            @boretentsu: Aldi don't sell Ozito.

            • @jv: No, but when Aldi have their own 'workzone' tools on sale, Bunnings usually drop the price on the Ozito equivalent to match Aldi.

    • Ryobi product quality is terrible these days, and their product support is even worse.

Bought a pole chainsaw…and it had a plastic lug holding the bar…which snapped mid cut above my head.

Ryobi had zero F's about recalling them… New model had metal capping at least.

I bet everyone with Ryobi has a dead battery pack. But not many Makita, DeWalt, even Ozito or Aldi would have died. My Aldi pack has been amazing.

      Ryobi can just go away.

      • I have Dewalt and Ryobi batteries + tools, and I need some garden tools to replace my old Ryobi ones. What should I go with? Dewalt garden tools (like trimmers, blowers,…) are rated very low.

        • +1

I have 900m2 to maintain, and I've found Ozito great. The trimmer seems to be love / hate. I absolutely love it. Battery lasts forever, weighs nothing, cuts through thick weeds better than my 2 stroke Makita brush cutter.

The original Aldi stuff was awesome, but i see the quality decline each year in the Ferrex line (they are trying to make them cheaper every year).
I don't have any DeWalt gardening stuff, so cant help with that.
I did borrow the neighbors brand new Bosch hedger. It was absolute rubbish..like cheap hair clippers. Jammed all the time. Lent him my Ozito and his mind was blown.

Lastly, if I was going to throw tools around. Makita and Milwaukee are pretty good. If I dropped the Ozito off the roof, it wouldn't work. The Makita stuff has better plastics.

But in 5 years, my Ozito hedge trimmer, chainsaw, SDS Rotary, Hammer Drill has been excellent. Kids also flog the batteries in electric cars. No noticeable loss in battery capacity. Have an original Aldi Polesaw branded as "Gardenline" that has done 100's of hours of trees way higher than the powerlines. Still brilliant (only bought a new chain). But can't get them anymore. These have double locks on all pivots, the Ferrex went down to one, and now has some weird plastic..thing.

          • @tunzafun001: Sadly I just bought Ryobi's wet saw recently. It actually cuts very well, and I couldn't find similar products from DeWalt or Ozito.
One more lock to their ecosystem added :-(

      • Ozito batteries die IME even when I learnt how to better care for lithium (had to learn, I now live off-grid) charging early, making sure the batteries don't get hot & don't charge if warm or hot careful to never overuse or being left in the sun etc … the things still die from cell death, not one has had the controller die yet …

Agree with you on Aldi, have batteries that are from before moving to where I live now, not one Aldi battery has died that I have ever purchased so they are all older than 6yrs, not one Ozito battery from then has survived, some died within warranty.

        • Interesting…I only have the older Aldi and same generation Ozito. The benefit of the Aldi packs is you can charge them to 85% and leave them sit until you need them. Fully charge just before. Will last forever.

Ozito is a guess between the 3 lights I always use the little trickle charger instead of the Ozito fast charger, unless its a quick 15min top up to finish a job.

Lastly, never leave them fully charged or on charge. All bad.

  • thx Makita whipper time

  • Bunnings need to do this for Ryobi

  • +1

somebody always puts together a sensational pricematch/cashback/bonus stack on these. Standing by…

    • Got bunnings to price beat this after trying a few stores. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/929154 final price was $606.70 with all the redemptions on top :)

      • Good on you persistence pays. Read comments they wouldn’t price beat TKD or would only price beat single item rather than bundle.

  • +2

    Oh my gosh!!
Im so glad they back-dated this to yesterday!! I bought that same lawn mower last night!

    Yewwww $200!!! Awesome.

    • Did you pricebeat? Can you please let me know if you receive any update from Dewalt for the bonus trimmer + pruner kit? 🙏

      • +3

Dewalt has been pretty good with redemptions in my experience. Takes about 4-6 weeks I think usually, but they do just turn up at your door one day.

      • +1

My only redemption from Dewalt was for a battery, and it only took 2 weeks to arrive.

        • +1

My Makita redemption experience was awesome, got a leaf blower!

  • +2

Friends please be careful lending your new Makita tools to anyone named Mac…

I was able to get this Dewalt self-propelled mower deal by pricebeat to $1052.19.

    Which bunnings store pricebeat TKD?

    • -1

Any Bunnings store can pricebeat, as long as Bunnings hasn’t changed the price to match TKD.

      • +2

Tried this yesterday with Melton South store and got rejected. Their page does say they don’t price match TKD because TKD is owned by them

        • I had no problem getting a price beat yesterday. In fact, I ended buying 2, after about 2 hours later for my parent.

      • +1

A lot more people report rejections than successes. I think a lot of ozb'ers would be invested in knowing which bunnings store is allowing a tkd pm?

  • +1

Seems like AEG running this weekend as well. Does this stack with the battery redemption offers from AEG as well?

  • Damn I want a blower but it's only $129. Need to research what other tools I'll need for my DIWHY

    • Mate.

      Facebook people sale $80

      • Eh $49 for a warranty

  • Is this a good time to buy a combo kit or wait for African-Australian Friday or Xmas?

  • +3

Can’t be trusted if gift card redeem via Bunnings. I didn’t get my $50 last time from over $250 spending on Dewalt and get $50 gift card from Bunnings a few months back. I checked this in store and they asked me to call…the help line asking me to wait but never heard anything back 🤯

    • -4

Doesn't sound like you tried hard enough

    • +5

I had to follow up via email about 5 times for my credit. Was pretty annoying.

    • Did you enter all details correctly? Eg, receipt number, etc

      • I did, it said "Thanks Your form was successfully submitted". I had taken a screenshot from last time (I didn't feel well at the time and took a screenshot).

I just called 1800 797 586 again today, the operator said she can't find my last time's recorded call as I called them too long ago (July) Lol

        • Just because the page said “Thanks your form was successfully submitted” doesn’t mean you entered everything correctly. Did you receive the confirmation email?

          • @pioneerjhem: No emails, that why I went to the store and got the customer service number to follow up myself. Store staffs were helpful but they couldn’t get an answer via the phone. I called next day but got my answer, just keep waiting. Today, I called again. You know what? They told me they will looking into it and keep waiting…

            • @GOmike: If you didn’t receive the confirmation email, but the webpage said form successfully submitted, most likely you typed the email address incorrectly.

              • @pioneerjhem: Negative. Email has to be filled in twice from the page. Plus, they can’t even find my submitted form via my phone number 🤖

                • +1

@GOmike: Just to share your pain, i also had the same experience with no confirmation email. I had to chase it up multiple times and eventually got the gift card. Email was 100% correct on the form. Was a crappy experience.

    • +2

I had to nag customer support email, they took ages to respond but eventually got the gift card from the earlier deal 🙁

  • +1

Can you pay for the initial transaction using a Bunnings gift card? I can't find any mention in their terms and conditions

    • Yeah, got a $50 one from daughter for father's day, also, has anyone purchased a click & collect & been able to register? … I live 100k's from closest Bunnings & may not get there for a week or so.

  • Can't price match TKD, it is in their price guarantee terms and conditions and the bunnings store that I went to said that they can't price match themselves. TKD is a tradie version of bunnings, so the price is 10% cheaper than bunnings.

Regardless, I bought the 460mm brushless Makita mower kit, got a free brushless blower, and the gift card.

    • +2

Did you add something else Makita branded to get the $150.00 gift card or were you happy with the $100.00 gift card?

      • +2

I picked up a brushless vacuum cleaner, so the total went over $1000 and I got the $200 gift card. There wasn't really anything much that I wanted to add at $1 to get the $150 gift card, Bunnings is pretty smart in not having nice cheap Makita stuff. I couldn't even find Makita sanding paper for the orbital sander.

Did my Bunnings redemption at 3:42pm today and received my $200 gift card at 3:53pm. No issues.

Now I am going to claim the 2 free batteries.

    • They can't price beat TKD but can they price match?

    • I think you can also claim online for 2 free batteries in addition to those?

      • +2

Yes, if you get the DLM464PT2, you get a blower from bunnings (bring it to the checkout counter and it will scan for $0.01). Then for your Makita online redemption, you can get 2 batteries or another identical blower.

        • Thanks for the info. Do you know which blower model by chance?

  • Is it in store only or we can click n collect too?
As blower says in store bonus.
Can somebody shed some light on it plz

  • So annoyed i missed this! I thought it ended in Nov. Wanted to get a bunch of stuff, including the mower deal arrgghh!
