Toyworld Ararat (VIC) 50% off Closing down Sale

80

Hello,

My local Toyworld is closing down shortly and I thought I'd help them out by letting Oz bargainers know. This only applies to Toyworld Ararat in Victoria.
Plenty of toys left including transformers and lego stuff. Everything is 50% off by the way.

  • I'm surprised Toyworld is shutting down in Ararat rather than all the takeaway shops. A good deal either way. It seems a lot of Toyworlds are slowly closing down.

That's cos all the locals were spending their coin on takeaway and not at the toy shop #thebiggestloser

      • I guess it's a joke and reference to the biggest loser..

I've spoken to a few retailers there about the 'fattest' town. It's a crock of shit hyped up by the media, it includes surrounding cities(pretty much Victoria) and they needed a reasonable sized town(not too big, not too small)for the TV show, pretty much nothing to do with Ararat.

No it's not. Did you watch the first episode. Most of the townspeople were oinkers…

        • Yes, because i believe everything on TV. Like i said, surrounding areas..

  • Only lego left is a big box of Ninjago apparently :(

    • dont forget the Hobbit lego I saw on the shelf at 4:30 this afternoon when I went in to get my gift wrapped transformer.

  • Just be careful with this.

One of the toyworlds in Adelaide was closing down, a very similar 50% sale. The catch was the 50% off was from full retail price, not their standard sale price.

(Most of the price stickers had two prices - regular sale price, and the full retail price. They'd sell the item for whichever of those two prices was cheaper - the regular sale price or 50% off the retail price).

When I was in there I googled prices for some of the toys I was interested in and after taking 50% off the price it was pretty much the same as the prices at Target/Big-W/K-Mart.

I bought my daughter a little blackboard which turned out to be a whopping $2 savings from the k-mart price ($13 compared to $15). Some prices even after 50% off were dearer than something from Target (a lego alarm clock I almost bought for myself!).

Hmmmn. No wonder they were going out of business.

  • No need to be careful webbiegareth, this is just a plain old 50% off everything in the store sale. Just had a quick look and the same lego they were selling was exactly the same price as kmart and it was 50% off that. I picked up some real bargains and I was sure to price check along the way.

Bah my local Toyworld only had 40% off… Funny thing was the woman who owned the store was utterly convinced that her store closing had nothing to do with online shopping, because Toyworld doesn't have online competition. Right…

  • My guess is that the locals discovered online shopping…
