      • How come they are doing 10% for us, instead of the usual 5%?

        • Think it's part of the back to school promotion, all price matches are 10%.

  • +5

It was at Retravision O'Connor, postcode 6163.
100% not demo unit, they had many boxes of Nexuses (Nexi?) in stock.

  • +1

Oh, crap - just bought nexus 2012 a couple weeks ago.

  • +1

why would it be stock clearance when its a new model……. I SMELL NEXUS 8 coming!

    • +2

You think some store in Western Australia would have the inside info on a new Nexus release before anyone else?

      • Haha..you are funny but I think RtN guessed it is about that time of the year.

  • Does officeworks price match based on pictures?

  • +1

OW doesn't price match store clearance

    • +2

OW LPG explicitly excludes "Competitor clearance products"

I'm on the way to officeworks to attempt price match. It should work, I'll just tell them to call the retravision up the road, and the lady on the phone told me it doesn't matter that it's stock clearance.

    • Let me know how you go please! If you have any luck price matching the 16gb a receipt would be much appreciated ;)

      • +1

Officeworks will pricematch for me. Off there now. Cheers

  • Since when do stores stock the 16gb 2013 model/ and on clearance after 4-5 months? Are you sure they arent mistakenly labeled with pricing from the 2012 models?

  • I price matched, plus I got 10% off, instead of the usual 5%, probably because I'm so sexy.

    • 16gb? Can you please send me your receipt?

    • Did you just show them the photo you posted here and asked for price matched?

  • Can we get a receipt to get a price match at OW?

      • +1

Well done - I see you got the school book list 10% price match! Going to head to my local soon!

      • +1

I tried to pricematch using the receipt at Officeworks Campbellfield VIC, and they bounced me back on not being able to prove it was a) non-clearance, and b) the current price (even when showing the receipt). Gah! Any tips?

        • +1

… and tried Werribee too - nope. CroDemon must've got luck!

        • +3

          same in north sydney

Got one in Adelaide ($249) but had to compromise for just a price match and no 5/10% pricematching discount.

I really do not like how the OW store are so inconsistent throughout various different branches. Even though they are managed by different people, they should all have the same policies.

      • I agree it is annoying however they probably do have the same policies. The inconsistent customer experience is due to either staff apathy or ignorance or both. This can work in your favour, pick your mark wisely. Seek out that employee who obviously doesn't want to be there and can't be bothered looking anything up properly or comparing specs thoroughly.

If you are a true Ozbargainer get to know when the slackers are rostered on, I also apply a similar tactic in Woolies for reduced to clear meat bargains. For example, the weekday guy in our local favours stickering stuff around lunch time while the weekend girl gets it done early in the morning. The dude also sets his gun more generously irrespective of expiry dates. :)

      • I agree, like EB Games, one will do it with no problems at all, the other, like their life depends on not giving you a price match! It's like DUDE, what's the point of arguing for 10 minutes before I persuade you to do your job properly?

  • Anyone have a photo of the price/receipt for a 16gb?

  • +1

damn - looks like no retravision in Sydney

  • +1

any1 successfully got a price match in sydney area?

  • I think the price will drop to 199 sooner or later, just like old version

  • Price matched at OW VicPark, WA
    thanks CroDemon!

For anyone still interested, Bing Lee also have the Nexus 7 2nd Generation on sale at $249 starting now until monday.
Managed to price match it at OW for 224.10 /w 10% discount

    • thanks aznduud3, got one from OW, it was only 5%, they say it was automatic from the system. still a good price.

    • Thanks Dude. The OP should add this to the description since their price is online and OW shouldn't be able to refuse a price match.

      Here is the link.

      http://www.binglee.com.au/asus-nexus7-1a050a-nexus-7-tablet-…

      • it has been already posted as new deal

  • How do I verify that the Nexus 7 is 2012 or 2013 ? Is it marked on the unit itself ?

  • +1

Hm, I wonder why the price cut? I might go to OW today and get.

  • Nexus 7 32G reduced to clear over at DS.. $199

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tablets-accessories/asus-nexus-7…

Now with free shipping this weekend.

    • +1

      that's the 2012

    • keep in mind, that price is for the 2012 nexus 7.
For just a bit more, you can get the 2013 model with much better performance

      • If you can land the 2013 edition at OW for $224, the $199 deal at DS doesn't even stand a chance, unless it was $129, then maybe.

Just went to the jandakot store and they made all sorts of excuses like its the old model at retravision etc. So reluctant to pricematch.
I have never had luck with them price beating, its a joke. The dumb manager said she'd call o'connor to tell them they made a mistake. These guys are full of bullshit lies

    Stupid.

    • Bing lee have it for $249, talk to them again to see what they say now

  • +1

Nah I'm over wasting my time at OW. I have never been able to pricematch anything, all I get is excuses and lies about why its not possible. I put in a complaint to head office and I'll never go there again.

Posted in the other thread, but I'll put it all here + more.
    - Called Officeworks Osborne Park, said they had no stock. Dude was nice and checked other stores and said all stores were out. In hindsight he was probably looking up 2012.
    - Called Retravision O'Connor to confirm both models and prices.
    - Went out to O'Connor to get it from Retravision, but decided to check Officeworks O'Connor first.
    - Curiously, a the 32gb was on display with a price, but not under the shelving (unlike the Galaxy and generics).
    - A staff member took me to the front checkouts where they were locked in a cabinet
    - I mentioned price matching Retravision and he immediately had a hissy fit. Claiming they won't match from a (and I quote) "8 month old photo from Facebook". I didn't show him a photo at any point. I'd told him I called Retravision and had confirmed they had stock of both at those prices, but he refused ot listen and talked over me.
    - At this point he said head office had called to tell them not to honour Retravision.
    - I then showed him Bing Lee, which was met with much skepticism. He accused me of showing him a cached version of the product on Google because he wasn't able to find it himself.
    - I brought up the product on his own computer. He then claimed it was an older model. After verifying all the specs we finally got to the point of agreement. Price match on $249 + $11 shipping
    - At the till, he finally listens to me about Retravision - that O'Connor has it, and I'm not talking about a photo on Facebook. He explains all he has to do is call them and that's enough (at this point I've given up, another $10 isn't worth the hassle)

But the kicker… the chick at the register next to him hears that (he would call to confirm) and says "I wouldn't do that. There's no way I'd help them".

Great job Officeworks. I know you're reading this. I don't blame the staff member I dealt with too much. He was very rude to begin with, but was under instruction and did eventually match the price and provide the discount.

    • I've found them to be quite reluctant to price match/beat. Always comes up with rubbish excuses.. I'm not even sure why they are so defensive. It's not like the price difference comes out of their pockets…

    • The OW in the CBD had some cool guys, they price matched without an issue. However, some other OW stores might be nasty.

  • Just got one from OW for $224.00 , thanks op…

  • For anyone interested in the receipt
