  • anyone know what is the minimum you have to use per month on the $29 cap? my brother was charged extra last year for not reaching his minimum usage, plus his monthly cap.

      eg If you spend 25, you pay 29
      If you spend less than $150, you pay 29
      If you spend over $150, you pay 29+excess usage.

      If you do not use $29 worth, you will still be charged $29 - that's a minimum if you are on that contract.
      I think the $29 gives you $150 of calls + SMS + extra calls and texts to other 3 customers

      • The minimum of the old "$New 29 cap" is $20 (or $19?).

      • my brother is on the $29 cap. he was charged a certain amount (can't remember how much, but an annoying amount) because he did not reach his minimum usage (i think it was $20)

    i'm hoping thats a mistake on their part because i don't want to be paying $29 for 24 months. i signed up for the 12 month contract.

    • same with me. i called and asked, he said it's indeed a 24 months contract. he's not even aware that there's a 12 months contract option :( unfortunately there is nothing saying 12 months contract in the order email.. are there cooling off period to cancel this? i am deat sure i order the 12 months contact.. i re-readed it a number of times when submitting the order..

    • it needs to be 12 MONTH CONTRACT on your contract, if it says 24 month contract then it needs to be changed ASAP by going to the store that you purchased it, or by calling up 3 customer care and asking them to change it.
      The e63 12 month contract on a 29 plan is a new plan and may not be fully known by all reps, make sure you insist and also get it changed.

      • the problem is i purchased it online and there is no proof that it's a 12 months contract (the order email said nothing about the length of the contract, otherwise i cancel it right away) i already make a long call with three.. it's not really resolved yet.. hopefully it will be resolved tomorrow. is it only happen to me?

          update: ok, so i called up 3 Care and the "customer service consultant" (if thats what you want to call them) was not aware there was such a thing as a 12 month contract. i insisted that its on the website. she then told me to call back during working hours to speak to the 'online sales department'.

      also ensure you write down the time and date of your calls

  • called 3 Care this morning, was transferred here and there. spent some amount of time insisting that there is a 12 month contract being advertised on the website. guy in the end told me to e-mail my order summary to [email protected] .
    did that and still waiting for a response.

      It's so annoying. It seems their sales dpt nvr communicate with customer care team.
      I had samilar problem last month and waste hours and hours, then finaly had it fixed in a 3 store…… Coz, they insisted the offer was not existed….. What the.

Three told me today (after first not knowing anything about the deal, me having to insist and then explain it and tell him how to get there on the website), that it is not for existing customers who sign up again, only for new customers. He assured me this was in the t&c online. I had a look and it isn't there. I have sent a complaint with a copy of what it says online and will post what happens.

    • i have decided to go through the complaints section on the 3 website. i explained what i have done, what the call centre people told me and clearly stated i want this issue to be rectified as soon as possible.
      if i don't get a solution there, i will be looking at putting it on black and white and sending it to NSW.

    • yes i would think so. but it will almost guarantee you get the 12 months contract.

      • Well, it just a matter of time to get them to fix the 24 months to 12 months. Because their website clearly stated that it's only 12. They can't force you into a 24 months, can they?

        • they can't. and maybe i'm just being bitter. but better safe than sorry.
          when you're forced to deal with a customer service department that is off-shore (with arguably deplorable skills in communicating clearly in english), you can't be 100% sure.

          then again, you should just order online, $64 money back is 2 months free + a bit.

  • this is stupid! I signed up for 12 months but my contract said 24 months too. I called them and they asked me to fax the contract back to them so they can check what happen…

    • three didn't call me back as promised yesterday. so i called them back. and have to wasted a lot of time again trying to explain everything again (every time i call them i have to re-explain everything again even though they said they made a note on my account about what happen so that i don't have to try to make them understand the situation again and again). they also asked me to email [email protected] which i did yesterday and still waiting for a reply…

      • I called up three customer service again talking to a different person. This guy is even more hopeless. He said, there is nothing he can do because I've already signed up for the 24 months contract.

        • keep pushing until they get it changed, or credit you 12 months. don't settle for anything less.

    This looks like a good value deal. I'm looking at the $19 per month with the X-8 (total $27 per month over 24 months).

    As I'm looking at using this for its internet, push email and windows live messaging I'll choose the X-8 to get some internet, plus I understand X-8 includes email on 3 application and 3's windows live messenger application usage.

    3's overseas callcenter is probably the only thing I am concerned about if I need support.

      • Yes,kodok@whirlpool. I`ll print the email n bring it to three store.at least from the email they admitted that the order we submitted online didn't contain any contract info.they just assumed we want 24 months. No I haven't reply.

  • ok, so i had the same problem with getting a 24mth contract instead of 12. so i called up the customer support, and it sounds like its been sorted. basically the guy i talked to was very helpful, and he went off and talked to his supervisor who in turn told him the only way to change the contract length is to change the cap value. so, i am going up to a 39/month cap for the following billing period only (and getting the $10 dollar difference refunded), then as soon as i can i need to call up and switch it down to 29 again.
    all going according to plan, i get what i ordered plus a month of (hopefully) free on a higher cap. i got the operators name too so i shouldnt have any difficulty when i call up and switch it back down.

    • weird. if you read the thread on Whirlpool, nobody came back saying that they had to go up to a $39 cap. either way, as long as i get what i ordered, i'll be content.

    • If something screw up on their end again, you are stuck with a $39 caps… I advise you don't use your cap above what you have on the $29

  • I purchased the Nokia E63 in store on a 12 month $29 contract. They had to ring corporate to actually input the contract, due to the 12 month $29 option not being available/selectable from their terminal. The funny thing was they had all the advertising materials (cardboard signs etc) clearly showing the phone available for 12 months on $29. Anyway, they rang corporate, and my contract clearly shows 12 months for handset / 12 months for contract.

    In terms of the phone, I think it is great. I've got it configured to use my home wireless access point by default (so no data charges). It is very handy to leverage to quickly google something (e.g. an address / phone number), rather than have to turn the home PC on. Great deal. Just wish it was available with vodafone.

    I paid the extra $8 for the data plan to get the 4000 skype minutes, and 100 MB of internet traffic over 3g per month. So im looking at $37 per month.

    In hindsight, I should probably have purchased the iphone $49 deal on vodafone/optus a few weeks back. Though this was a 24 month contract.

    The battery life on this nokia is awesome though.. so i'm not too unhappy. In 12 months i can switch to something different.

  • I ordered this phone on the day the deal came out. Of course when i got it, it said 24 month contract, after much time spent on the phone and convincing them that there is a 12 month deal for $29, and waiting on hold to various ppl forever, they changed it to 12 months. But i had to really push them, and they were initially asking me to send in a letter, i refused and wanted to solved on that day and so it eventually was, it seems like u have to really persist at 3 to get things done.
