Please come to Europe & Aussie store too. Wish you could have more than one NNID on it at a time. :-(

    • This was already free on the AU/EU eshop for a few months a year or so ago. Might come back again though?

      • +3

Was free from Sept 2011- Feb 2012. Unfortunately well before my 3DS ownership time.

Well before buying a 3DS was a remotely intelligent thing to do. Oh how things have changed!

        • Thank you Pokémon X/Y

        • I haven't played Pokemon since red/blue (yeah I'm THAT old). How's it compare?

I got my 3ds for Zelda Link Between Worlds, NO REGRETS.

        • I like the new X/Y, a lot of changes compared to all previous pokemon (which I thought were just the same). Though I don't like how it's so much easier now (pokemon all 20 levels ahead of all else)

      • It was also on the US store as well. It looks like they are cycling it back on for limited periods again.

  • +2

Should have put North America in the title. I think very few people will have one compare to, for example, a US PSN account.

I don't know why you got negged, I did post this in the morning.

      • +1

Yea I should of put a comment with it. I wasn't trying to say that it was already posted in the forums, I thought he should have given you some credit.

Why would anyone here have an American 3DS?
They're region-locked and aren't even cheaper than European ones.

    • +1

I got one so i could play Shin Megami Tensei 4 plus a couple of other games that haven't been released here yet (if at all)

      • i just use my region free 3ds and download all the games

        • Where'd you get a region free one?

        • +2

Needs to be on an old firmware and then use a card to make it region free.

    • -3

You should be able to use an American NNID (profile) - you wouldn't necessarily have to have an American console.

However, you can only have 1 NNID profile on a console at a time, so I don't know what would happen to all your purchases with your non-US profile when you changed it over (or what would happen to Zelda when switching back).

PAL consoles never have had the option to select NTSC regions (Japan, USA, etc) and vice versa.

The NA device and games are 1/2-1/3 cheaper than the Australian ones. I just looked up the prices for the 3DS XL, Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy on Amazon right now to confirm.

But yes NA is not as big of a deal on Nintendo as it is on Sony. If you want a Sony the PS+ account with the best free monthly games is NA, a few of PSP games playable on Vita are only ever released on the NA store (Corpse Party), and the games are substantially cheaper (~1/2) both physically and online using NA.

Nintendo is different. The prices are a little cheaper but not by such a large margin (especially as Amazon charges so much to ship them! meanwhile Play-Asia often runs out of NA game stock). NA sometimes gets Nintendo games last (like Layton), in fact the last DS Layton game had a huge part completely cut which we received in Australia for once!

Either way I bought both my Vita and 3DS XL in Australia on Australian prices, but have PS+ for NA to use on my PS3 and Vita.

I buy my games from CD universe. Shipping is $9 plus +$1.75 for each additional unit. If you're buying lots of games at a time, the shipping is quite reasonable. If you spend $125 your shipping automatically gets upgraded to FedEx 3 day shipping. It will arrive in 3 days. If it's shipped on a Friday, you will receive it on a Monday, because it continues to get here even on a weekend. I make sure I always get the free upgraded shipping.

Play-asia does the free shipping but they usually sell their stuff for $5 more than the RRP and it takes a long time to arrive.

Out of millions of people, do you honestly think that no one doesn't have a non-australian 3ds?

      • All those negatives are hurting my head. :(

      • I said anyone "here". I'm sure there are people in the world with American 3DSes, but not many of them would browse this site.
Though I can see now people import them for region-exclusive games which makes sense.

        • Most of my consoles and handhelds are imported. The only exception is my 360 which I only got recently because of the cashback.

If I was told I couldn't play any local games, I'd still do it. The savings outweigh what I give up. I've not bought a piece of software locally in over 10 years.

Thankfully Sony dropped region coding long ago, and Microsoft has caught on. Only Nintendo is stuck in the past, or should I say, not stuck in the past, since the DS didn't have region protection.

    • I have one.

They aren't cheaper, but the games are.

I was also able to get it in a color not available here.

    • +3

I have one because the games I played (Soul Hackers, Rune Factory 4, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Etrian Odyssey) don't come out here or take a very long time to. Also it's cheaper in the long run as the games are generally cheaper even after shipping.

      • +3

You have great taste in games :)

        • +3

A neg? I was being serious! Those are 4 great games! SMT4 is the main reason i imported a 3DS

        • +1

          I didn't neg you and thanks :P

      • "Soul Hackers, Rune Factory 4, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Etrian Odyssey"

        Are you me?

Seriously though, if you like Japanese RPGs, EU is the worst region to be in. Still no release date for SMT IV and Rune Factory was recently cancelled outright.

    • I imported the special edition zelda 3ds xl, which can still be bought in the USA even now. And as others have said, the e-shop is cheaper and has some exclusives. Just a shame the aussie dollar is doing so poorly.

  • Edit: mistake post in replying.

  • +2

I already posted this in the forums.

  • Do I have to download the title straight away? Because at the moment I have no SD card. Is it similar to PSN or Steam where I can just click "purchase" but cancel the download?

    • +1

      Yes. Just purchase it.

  • +3

Nintendo really need an online store like Sony and Microsoft do.

    • +1

Nintendo needs a lot of things tbh. Their online is an afterthought.

      • +1

I just got my American 3DS so went to download this game. What an absolute joke of a system they have.

        • You should see the AU store. Same as US but more expensive and half the content.

  • Oops. All that talk and I forgot to get the game. I should get those memory improvement ebooks from Amazon.

Oh well it was just a GBA port that I wasn't going to play anyway.

    • It's actually a bit more than a port. It's reworked. Really fun game, a bit different than regular Zelda games.

      • Are the graphics stretched from old resolution?

I had the GBA 4 Swords, but no one to play it with. GBA could only do multiplayer via system link.

Does the 3DS version support online?
