  • grabbed even if I haven't played my copy yet :P

  • Thanks OP! Have all of the normal expansion packs now, hadn't bothered with any of the Stuff packs.

  • Unfortunately EA is destroying the IP….

  • Great - thanks, OP!

    Fine Print:

INCLUDES SOFTWARE THAT COLLECTS DATA ONLINE NECESSARY TO PROVIDE AND ACTIVATE IN-GAME ADVERTISING FOR ALL THE SIMS 3 PRODUCTS PREVIOUSLY OR HEREAFTER INSTALLED.

    Ouch

    • Pretty sure that the advertisement features can be turned off, in regards to the advertisement loading screens and the in game purchases.

  • Page timing out: "The server at www.thesims.com is taking too long to respond."

    • For some reason the link wouldn't work over my Optus cable connection, though worked over Telstra 3G on my mobile.

So do we have to do anything? I already own the game on Origin, have the account, etc. We just wait for the game to pop up, yeah?

    • Correct.. I've been waiting for 2.5 hrs and it still hasn't shown up… Guess their servers are being hammered and might be a while before it does show up..

    • Assuming you followed the post link and clicked through to activate it against your Origin account, no.

    • I haven't logged into my Origin account yet, as I am at work, though I checked my Sims 3 profile online, and it says that I own the game.

      • Yeah.. It shows that I own it as well, but it hasn't shown up in the game nor in my origin list..

  • I think you have to download and install it first (not just have it)

I'm tempted to negged this deal simply because it involves Origin and my Origin account was recently hijacked due to EA's appalling lack of security.

It seems to be really easy to hack an EA account. All you need to know is somebody's login name. You don't even need to know somebody's password or date of birth or any other relevant details. You don't need to have access to the account owner's email address. Simply open an EA chat session with an Indian rep, tell them you have forgotten the answer to your security questions, have the Indian rep reset the question, and then change the Username and Password. Free games !

Avoid EA/Origin like you would somebody infected with Ebola virus. All it takes is a Chat session from somebody impersonating you, to loose all of the games you have paid for. Steam is much more secure. I have never had any online account hacked in 10 years of internet use until now. No wonder everyone hates EA. Their contempt for modding doesn't help either.

    • It's worth having an Origin account if for no other reason than to take advantage of the not infrequent Origin website stuff-ups that result in free games.

  • Deleted

  • After a few days of trying finally loaded and received,

Now to wait the 72 hours see what happens :)

    Thanks OP

    • Yeah.. you might be waiting a while longer.. lol..

I got the game in my account today, but there's no CD key attached, so I can't install it.. :(

      God EA is hopeless! lol
I'm sure they'll sort it out, but whennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn….

For anyone else who's staring at the linked page wondering what to do, make sure you enable Javascript from all of the places on the page. The big arse green button to click didn't appear until I did that (why is faceboot and youtube needed?!?).

  • My serial number just showed up in my origin account…

When they said 72 hours, they weren't far off it.. lol

  • just checked and its sitting there! Cheers!

  • Mine just showed up in my Origin library - thanks OP!

  • Is anyone else here being told that they need to uninstall The Sims 3 (retail) and download / reinstall the Origin version? Don't think that I will even bother. >_<

  • It still hadn't shown up in the Origin client, however I noticed when browsing the Origin store that that the Town Life pack was priced at $0.00 so I "bought" it. It's now happily downloading.

Link to the store page if you want to try this way: https://www.origin.com/en-au/store/buy/sims-3-town-life-stuf…

  • So how does this work exactly? Play the game? or own it only?

  • Never got it, now shows as $19.99.
