  • Do you have to be Truenergy customer?

    • you can call your own provider and normally they also give you similar offer.
If you call truenergy, most likely they want you to switch over but you will get cheaper if you go to truenergy mate rates. 9.5% discount and 8% (gas and electricity) if you direct debit credit card or saving or pay on time.

      • How you can get a mate rates?
I'm about to get my gas and electricity conact at the end of the month

  • I've had this done. They replaced 15 globes free of charge….I haven't got my next bill yet to see if the have some interesting scheme to charge me for it though.

I'm pretty sure it is open to every one and you don't have to be a exsistine customer

  • Im with truenrgy and i think they are one of the ceapest agoing around?

hmm too bad on this deal considering im in sydney!

  • who has 8 showers to replace 8 showerheads in?

    • only TWO showerheads per household.
For Victoria, they will replace all of your light bulbs in the house not just 8.

The one that I don't like is the installer need to install the bulb him/herself. I cannot just give my old bubs in the box and take the new one from him/her on the front door because I DON'T LIKE the installer to go inside my bedroom and climb on top of my bed to fit the bulb because it is close to the middle of my bed.

I saw my friend, he just unplug all bulbs from his house and gave the person and the person gave him the bulbs directly and no need to go inside the house. (not with truenergy)

  • I will say "No" for these type of Marketing Gimmick. It will cost you at the end of the day. If the government wants to save energy - they should do it through the council to ensure all family get it.

  • just to add something extra…the change over isn't actually done by a TruEnergy contractor but by some third party company who specialise in envriomently friendly retrofits.

  • I just got a letter from AGL & they're offering the same deal….call 1300 132 707 for bookings or further enquiries. Im in VIC so this ph number is obviously for fellow Victorian AGL clients. They are also offering $50 off* the Rinnai Sunmaster 215L Gas/Solar Hot Water System or Rinnai Ultima II high efficiency gas heater from AGL Assist Quoting HOT50 when you call them on 131766

*states conditions apply- but there arent any stipulated on the letter

HTH someone looking into taking up these options

  • the offer is fantastic.
tru energy call centre staff are a bunch of … very unprofessional people.
simple question : will they replace a normal 100W bulb with a 20W energy saving one (which is in roughly equivalent to 100W normal bulb I suppose) ? The answer is : "We do not know."

    • When the technician (non TruEnergy Contractor) attended he inspected the wattage of the current bulb and installed one that was of the same equivilant

      • what happened with the current bulbs ? Did they take from you ?

  • myrate also offer the same thing.

the company who will do the installation :

    http://www.greenproject.com.au/energy-efficient-products/

    use "myrate" when calling.

  • I haven't taken up this offer, but I did change over to tru energy a few months back, and my latest electricity bill came in $200 cheaper than the last one with energy australia. Im very happy with them, gets tough paying a $500 electricity bill every quarter..lol..

    • $500 gee are you running hyrdoponics or something?

  • guys, there's always a catch for everything.
when you want to sign up for elec, always ask:
    * What's the rate ? (it might also good idea to compare rate with another retailer, i.e: AGL, Origin, Powerdirect, and many more)
    * What's the exit fee ?
    * Can you exit anytime ? Is there any contract? (i.e changing retailer)
this can cover your a** if in the future, they bill you for something different
