  • Get the Blue and Pink AlcoSense Verity for Valentine's Day!

Because crappy old roses for Valentines Day are so 'last year.'

Give her this amazing gift and create memories that will last forever. She'll be telling her future boyfriends about for a very long time.

    • Haha! Well it's not romantic but it's definitely practical. You don't have to give it as a V day gift.. you can give it to someone else as a birthday gift.

  • hi rep, what is AS3547 and what else is AS3547 certified?

    • Hi Jobler,

The Australian Standards is the gold standards in identifying quality alcohol breath testers. Australian Standards certification is difficult to obtain and units must go through rigorous tesing and a comprehensive on-site audit of the manufacturing process and testing of products. For breathalyzers, the Australian Standard is AS3547. Any unit used in a workplace or law enforcement situation must comply with this standard. For personal use, it's not necessary but advisable especially if you want a reliable, accurate unit.

Other AS certified units we stock (for personal use) are the AlcoSense Pro (though this one is a semiconductor and not as accurate as the Verity fuel cell) http://www.breathalyzer.com.au/alcosense-pro-professional-br… and the Stealth fuel cell http://www.breathalyzer.com.au/alcosense-stealth-personal-fu…

  • Your ad reads that with this breathalyser I can be sure.

So, assuming I blow 0.049 on your breathaliser, your company stands by this should a police device find me over??

    • MasterScythe, if you blow a 0.049, we hope you don't drive at all!

But this is a really really good question that we get asked a lot!!

We are only a reseller, so we don't stand by anything. But all breathalyzer manufacturers will say that they are not liable for any actions or decisions the user make based on the breathalyzer reading. In other words, the decision to drink and drive is still yours, and shouldn't be attributed to the BAC result you get. Additionally, the police will still only stand by their own breathalyzer result (from the preliminary breath test) and the secondary breath test results, if the preliminary breath test finds you over the legal limit.

Additionally, all breathalyzers must be maintained and calibrated according to the manufacturer's recommendation to maintain their accuracy. As an AS certified breathalyzer and a fuel cell unit, the Verity is reliable and has the same accuracy range (+/- 0.005%BAC) as police breathalyzers, that also use fuel cell units.

In saying that, 1. You shouldn't drive when you're drunk. 2. A breathalyzer is a good tool to use to estimate your BAC after you've been drinking, so that if you do have to drive, you are fully informed of your BAC level and therefore, capability to drive. This is especially useful the morning after drinking, when you think you're OK to drive but may still be over the limit 3. A breathalyzer should not be used as a tool to drink and drive.
