Found this deal while reading and Engadget article. Deal begins Feb 15 3:00am Aust EDST.

Here's an excerpt from the article found at the following link:
http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/13/de-la-soul-download-3-fee…

The group tells Rolling Stone that its entire catalog will be available for download tomorrow, for 25 hours starting at 11AM ET. According to group member Posdnous, "Its been too long where our fans haven't had access to everything," despite a "trying" journey to wrangle all the clearance details.

Serving as a celebration for the 25th anniversary of its debut album 3 Feet High and Rising (and timely promotion for the upcoming EP Preemium Soul on the Rocks and album You're Welcome,), it should help fans fill in the hole left by long-discarded CDs and tapes. The tracks will appear on wearedelasoul.com, set the bookmark and your alarm now for a mid-Valentine's Day present to your ears tomorrow.

    Ring Ring Ring!

  • I know what I'm doing when I get home from work.

    • You must get home late. I think 11:00 am ET is 3:00 am 15/02/14 ESDT (eastern standard daylight savings time) in Australia.

      • I work in hospitality and am in Perth so should be midnight for me when it starts.

  • Me, Myself and I

If the link doesnt work, just leave your name. And your number. And they'll get back to you.

mp3's were cool and all back when all you had was dialup and irc file sharing when it would take a week to download an album but these days i cant see why anyone persists with them…. they sound like arse.

I would agree with you in regards to MP3's in general.
However, I would challenge anyone to tell the difference between a FLAC encoded pop / rock song and a 320 kbps MP3 in a blind test.

Are you kidding? I've lost my hearing but not that much

      • I agree with you only if the test was run on cheapy earphones etc.

But I can definitely tell the difference.. Even with my Logitech Z-2300's

      • Yeah 320 mp3 is good enough me in a file size vs quality trade off, flac would blow the bank

      • I can with most music. Can't remember what my AB foobar results are though:

    • For the record, files seem to be 320kbps mp3 files.

Only had time to unzip one file at the moment.

  • please update title for local time, US time has no relevance here.

wow, way to not understand time zones at all……

    • Re-read the description Sage…

  • great - i was trying to download them on Spotify but doesn't look like the band has signed up to them..

If you read the endgadget article linked in this deal, you'll find out why you wont fond them on any streaming service. Hence why they ate giving their music away.

Oh… and Milly pulled a pistol on Santa…. Apparently…. I'm now staying up till 3am to listen to all DeLa's albums before downloading again… Any why not as my 4 month old stays up all night anyway.

  • easily one of the best hip hop acts to ever drop a beat

    TYVM OP!

man, the memories….seriously, these good time feels!

to be back in those days without all the ship that goes on today

  • Got my link and queued up the goods this morning. According to my friends in the US there were issues at first due to De La trying to use Dropbox and not knowing about the terms,of service for d/l limits. I didn't experience any issues. Out and about but will report once i get back.

  • Thanks got my subscription links in the queue.

has anyone received any download links so far?

    • signed up last night and havent so far..

      • I got my links pretty quickly, had to look in my gmail junk folder though…

    • My links came through within 1 hour. Confirmation email came in @ 06:19. Download links email @ 07:09.

      • thanks for the replies people. still waiting here- has been 12 hours so far. signed up again with another email and still no nothing. using gmail here- checked spam folders etc but no luck grrrrr

        • It recall when i signed up saying that if you're using gmail the email will be in the promotions tab. I'd have a guess that's where yours is.

        • yes thanks, i saw that message, but can't see it there either. also tried with a big pond email, but no luck either. oh well….

        • yea i tried 3 email accounts (one gmail, 2 isp's) all 3 got the conform subscription emails but none got anything more.

        • Ah I can't believe I missed out on this giveaway - only just seen it. If you end up receiving more than one set of links to download the albums, could you maybe send me the links you don't need? I'd really appreciate it. I have a few things I could trade if you want them and missed out on the deals when they came out - download codes for all the games from the Humble Origin Bundle (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96239) and the Humble Weekly Sale Hosted by Pewdepie (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/113536), and a Comixology account with 700 #1 Digital Marvel Comics (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96239).

        • The links were apparently time limited before they expire. Probably within the 25 hours that the offer was going to be running for. The links have probably already expired now that the offer has ended.

So i guess you should have checked ozbargain more often i mean this thread has been running for 2 days. You snooze you lose.

        • i emailed them and they replied with the download links. nice work!

        • +1

If you want people to help you with links, then you need to turn on private messaging. Nobody will post their private links on a public forum.

FYI my download links (obtained 4AM 15/2/2014) are still valid at the time of writing this comment.

        • Thanks for letting me know - I can't really remember turning private messaging off, but it's on now. Glad to hear the links are still working, I just hope someone can help me out if they have spare links.

        • PM sent :)

    • Got my links within an hour.

  • got mine within 30 mins

  • +1

Just got my just then about 24hrs after I signed up

    • +1

haha you beat me to it (just)

i just received mine on one account then the other that i signed up again with 20 hours later caus i didnt get the first lot… then about a minute later i got the 2nd one as well.

thanks OP and thanks De La :)

      • Not sure if you've seen it, but I posted a reply to your comment above - I'm gutted I just missed out on this. Did you receive different links to each email account? Could you send me the extra links you don't need? As I said above, I have a few things I could trade if you want.

        • i have 3 different sets of links from 3 different emails :)

obviously i only needed/used one lot, wasnt like i was trying to broden them just thought the first email didnt work and didnt wana miss out

  • hmm this is interesting. seems these originated from an illegal pirate site…. wonder where that lands anyone legally? https://torrentfreak.com/de-la-soul-gave-away-pirated-copies…

it seems De La Soul had a bit of a problem obtaining ‘official’ digital copies.

Text revealed in the metadata on the 3 Feet High MP3s appears to show that De La Soul (or someone close to them) downloaded the copies from Russian pirate site Rappalata before making them available on their own site.
