I hope the price drop is permanent, or at least stays there until next week. I want to know more about the Z3..

    • Yeah I was holding off updating my Z10 until I was seeing what this new device was, it looks like a great entry level phone, which is what is needed and amazing specs for the price if true, but not a high end so no worries about Z30 being replaced anytime soon :)

  • no way id spend that money on a product whose price dropped so much so quickly.

Buy it with a Coles Mastercard with Account Cover Plus to absorb further price drops over the next 2 years!

    • @holden 93. It's Kogan, most phones have dropped similar amounts, samsung, htc, sony etc.

      That's why I put was $549 as $709 isn't a realistic price.

      • others don't drop nearly as fast as blackberry does.

  • Dual Core at that price ?

    • def. nexus 5 is the winner in all aspect, price, specs, OS

Yeah and 720p screen, not sure what people are on about that this thing has high specs for the price

You can buy a L920 for <$350 if you don't like Android or a similar spec Huawei Android for <$200

Plus BB seems to be near the end of the road

      • We were talking about the rumored Z3 (high specs for price).

If you use a BB 10 device you will understand what it's about and how well it runs, doesn't need higher specs to be smoother, each to their own of course but just saying you can't make such easy comparisons :)

Very true. Look at iPhone 5s. Only use dual core processor.

        • very true, look at the price vs specs lol pay double for dual core rather than quad core?

Q10 at $399 looks like a good as well.

Hey hamza who do you use? I'm considering going back to BB since the q10 is pretty cheap.

Is it easy to side load apps for android?

I got a Z30 on Telstra. I got a Z10 the day of release but upgraded to Z30 a couple weeks back. I was a big keyboard man, bold 9700, torch 9800, bold 9900, made the plunge to the Z10 after reading such glowing things about the BB touch screen keyboard, and was glad I did, don't miss my keyboard anymore :) The predictive text blows everything out of the water, swiftkey and all that doesn't come close, the flicking of the words is awesome and the way the OS knows what word you want to write next with it's suggestions is freakish, sometimes you can type a whole sentance after typing only 1 letter. Like if I type 'h' then.

Android apps is very easy, you don't even need to sideload anymore, with 10.2.1 you can install apk android apps direct through your device.

I use Amazon App Store and Snap (App store for Google Play). You can also just download the apk files off any website if you want, but the app store is obviously easier.

For example to install Amazon App Store you just go to amazon.com/getappstore on your BB browser, click install, then Amazon app store will show as an app on your home screen, you open it up and download/install apps just as you would on an android device, can also check for updates.

I use Snap the most as Google Play obviously has a bigger selection, it's just an app someone has made that gives you access to Google Play app store, you use your google logins and everything, so any apps you had previously on an android device will appear, including paid apps. You just need to sideload snap initially, but once it's installed then that's it.

The android runtime is the equivalent to jelly bean, so most apps are supported, the only major limitation is you don't have google play service. I haven't had any issues, I got about 35 Android apps installed. Snapchat, spotify, pandora, banking apps, shopping apps etc. They all run fine. I did have Instagram and Vine installed as well, but uninstalled them now their are BB versions (theres a BB snapchat in beta now as well). The only issue I came across is some apps give u a warning google play services aren't installed, but it still works. The only app that didn't work was a panasonic viera remote app, it wouldn't pick up my TV.

I don't really need android apps, I more install them because I can, I find BB world has everything I really need and other things the browser is so good that the mobile browser is just as good, but it's a nice luxury to have. If you are worried about any specific android apps and if they work, I can test them and let you know, but I think you'll find 90% of the times BB world has an app or a decent equivalent app as far as big name apps go, the major advantage of android apps is getting local apps where everything is only android/itunes (banking apps, shopping apps for coles or whatever etc)

        :)

Wow thanks for the detailed insight, I don't know why someone down voted you. I will definitely have to have a demo at Optus store or something. Yeh I'm still a big keyboard person I moved from a Nokia E71 to S4 with SwiftKey and it's just not the same I text less these days and going back to the E71 is too messy.

I'll definitely have to try the predictive text when I go down to the store.
