Or just buy some capsulin empty pods at about 16 cents each and then add your own coffee. Even better.

    (Voted No1 by Choice)

What qualifications do they have in evaluating coffee ?

    • -1

      Apparently…..
"We invited three experts to taste test capsule coffee made in a DeLonghi Nespresso Citiz & Milk machine. The tasters blind sampled a shot made from a Nespresso capsule and four different Nespresso-compatible capsules"

        We invited three experts

…and by whom were these 'experts' accredited?

        • +1

LOL you can get accredited in testing coffee? Hmmm…. its almost the same as getting wine tasters…

        • LOL you can get accredited in testing coffee?

Of course… At the Quality Coffee Institute

  • And the results….

Coffee Capsule Delights Indian Flavour 60c/5.8g

Comments: “Good aroma”, “nutty”, “no bitter aftertaste”, but “a very limited flavour”.

Ah yes, good old Choice. I remember them testing a high end camera which photography experts raved about but which the Choice "experts" said was mediocre. Used to be a supporter but their approach is childish and they often barely scratch the surface, for obvious reasons (access to true expertise, costs involved). Better than nothing is some cases, often not. Anyway, these pods were Voted No1 what? What was tested, how was it done (black? with sugar/milk? long or short pour?) and how many tasters were there?

I'm flat out finding Nespresso pods that are worth drinking (I find their Indian spiced pod horrible, although one in my family doesn't mind it) let alone compatible pods but if you think yours are that good why not offer some freebies so we can judge for ourselves? If they are I'm sure you'll be inundated with orders.

    • Choice "experts" said was mediocre.

Choice 'experts' are probably the 'work-experience kid'

  • GEORGE Clooney may have helped Nespresso explode into a billion-dollar global brand, but it appears the company's coffee capsules are not as smooth as the world famous actor.

Nespresso capsules placed fourth out of five in a blind taste test conducted by consumer advocate Choice.

Each shot was assessed for crema thickness, colour, aroma, mouth feel and aftertaste.

The Nespresso capsules, which were the most expensive in the survey, were described by the judges as "underwhelming", "musty" and "watery" by Choice's three experts.

Coffee Capsule Delights Indian received the top rating from the judges, who described the coffee from these capsules as "nutty", having "a good aroma" and "no bitter aftertaste".

But the review was not entirely positive, with the judges saying the capsules had a "very limited flavour".

Choice food policy adviser Angela McDougall said Nespresso was an example of what could be achieved through slick marketing.

"Nespresso has built its brand through its club and boutique stores, creating what is known as 'premiumisation'," Ms McDougall said.

"However, the low ranking of their coffee capsules in our taste test is a reminder to consumers that an expensive, exclusive product isn't always necessarily the best."

In late news "Choice food policy advisor" Paula de Wool admitted that 3 people testing one pod was hardly definitive. "In fact," Paula said, "it's a downright sham. An example fo what slick marketing can do."

What's with the skepticism? I read the review a while back and they used known people working in the coffee industry. Even if it's only as good or slightly worse than official Nespresso then I'd still buy them as it's $35 cheaper! $41 cheaper taking into account postage. +1 from me.

    • I don't know, reasonable deal and I would buy if i didn't have 80 pods waiting to be used.

Might be a result of the deal being a bit "salesy", but what do you expect from the store rep?

  • No thanks.

I have a Gaggia Classic expresso machine. Use it twice daily. Purchased a Nespresso pod machine with Nespresso pods. Absolutely disgusting. With milk makes is barely palatable. The wife uses the pod machine during the day so at least it gets some use. Nespresso is great for ease of use and convenience but does not make a good coffee. Better then instant I guess.

The code doesn't work anymore, says its been exceeded.
Postage is $5.95 bringing total cost to $50.90

+1 for these pods, I use them regularly and they're far better than the nespresso, although they are slightly less consistent.

However… my recent shipment of 100 contained a few damaged ones, they simply put these bulk lots into a bag or thin cardboard box with no protection. Some of the pods pierce the tops of the other pods, lost about 5 in my last order.

    • May they rest in piece.

      • +1

        as compost.

  • Do you have problems with them not working in the machine? One forum I read said that they often didn't pierce properly etc. I'd like to try them, but 100 is too many first time.

    Beware…
I bought 12 sleeves of these coffee pods about a year and they are not compatible with Nespresso pixie machines and customer service made it nearly impossible for me to return them. Waste of money…
When the pods are inserted into the machine the water took about 4x as long to filter through into your glass and the resulting infusion was thin and tasted like dirty dishwater

    • Same experience here with a Citiz. Bought these after seeing the choice review. Did not like these pods one bit. Takes much longer to dispense a shot of coffee, crema wasn't as nice as the Arpeggio pod (the one I use most often) and wasn't very tasty at all.

Choice only used the nespresso Roma pod in their comparison. From speaking with other users I don't think this is Nespresso's best selling pod. At least Choice should've tested several different pods to draw a fairer comparison or compared the best seller to the others.

The Coles compatibles are pretty good at 40c each.

  • +3

Rep, please post a deal for a trial pack of 10 for $5 shipped and I will give it a try. Not willing to risk a 100 pack that may end up in the bin. Also, I have a Pixie, others have said these pods are not compatible with it, can you advise if they are?

    • +1

I would recommend offering a cheap pack for people to try as well.
You may not make any profit for the sample… but if the pods are really as good as you say they are then we will be surely back for plenty more. :)

  • Rep, coupon is not working - I get this error message: "Warning: Coupon is valid for a minimum of 1 bulk pack.". I am entering it here:
