      Don't replace the power adapter, it'll kill the charger!

      I accidentally plugged the wrong charger in to this. Pulled it out within 1 sec as I smelled burning, but too late the charger is dead. It states on the back of the device, only use the provided power adapter with this device.

      I just put a US/AU converter on the end and worked beautifully before. Great charger.

          my guess is it was either to high voltage output or most likely wrong polarity.

          im not sure of the specs of the original adapter but generally what you have to worry about is

          1) the input voltage suits where you live (in australia its 240V, america is 110v) so if you only use it in aus it only needs to suit 240v. most adapters these days can have anything from 110v to 240v meaning you can travel anywhere in the world with them as long as you have a travel converter plug.

          2) the output voltage suits your device (assuming your correct) if it needs 12V then make sure its 12V output

          3) the polarity of the output is correct. is the middle pin positive, negative or alternating (AC output) current

          4) the output amps are at least what it needed by the device. if the device needs 1A then 1A and above will be fine. a 1A device connected to a 10A adapter will still only draw 1A from it you cant however connect a 0.5a (500ma) adapter tho.
