Totaly forgot about this untill I was looking at low cost transactions in paypal..
Still hasnt arrived, going to open PP dispute anyway as i value my $0.02 AUD and its cutting it fine to the last day i can open the dispute…
Petty i know but its my f**king money being given to a international business, in return for a product not received in way over the advertised time frame.

    • Given they said it could take up to 25 business days to deliver, it actually isn't "way over the advertised time frame".

As for how much you value 2c, that's just ridiculous.

      • -3

        I value my money.
I dont appreciate spending it on things that dont arrive.
IDGAS if its 1cent or $1000000000, its my money going overseas to a company for goods i expect to receive after purchasing them.
As AnophthalmiaCervidae mentioned, the abilty to open disputes for items not arriving from overseas companies
is not just something I do, but also should not be abused.
Look at the thread of people in the $40 rebel sport voucher thread, opening disputes and ACCC claims over the $1 spent in return for goods ie $40 voucher.
Here i spent 2c for an item worth $1.74US.

Its not the stupid commment about me valuing my 2c being ridiculous that makes you ignorant, its the fact this is Ozbargain, a place where 2cents is valued

        • Dude…

        • Wheres your car?

        • Its not the stupid commment about me valuing my 2c being ridiculous that makes you ignorant

I'm not sure you even understand what being ignorant means…

Either way, yes, valuing 2c is ridiculous. It will literally make absolutely no difference to your entire life whether you get that 2c back or not. So yes, valuing it is ridiculous.

FWIW, yes, I also think the claims over $1 for the Herald Sun offer are ridiculous, and as I posted in there it was obvious from very early on that it wasn't going to end well.

        • -3

So you dont value 2c or even $1!
I think you'll find that most normal people do.
Ever been to a third world country? Its people like you that are ignorant. (Theres that word again, look it up if your still unsure)
1cent can and does make a difference.
If you want, you can send me your paycheck each week, it seems to me like you dont value your own money.
PM me with you preffered payment method

        • +2

Ozy, your comments are still ridiculous.

Yes, I've been to many third world countries. I don't see how that's relevant to whether or not 2c will make a difference to either of our lives. It may make a difference to theirs, but then, if anything you're actively trying to penalise a poorer nation by submitting a Paypal dispute over 2c. If you're going to bring other countries into this, surely the factory worker in China needs that 2c a lot more than you do?

And yes, I know what ignorant means, yet once again you're using it in an inappropriate situation, suggesting that you don't know what it means.

I do value my own money, when it makes a difference to my life. My pay-cheque each month makes a difference to my life. 2c will not.

        • If you earn minimum wage it would still only take approximately 4.4 seconds to earn that 2c.

Wasted 30c worth of time typing this.

        • -6

If you really don't get it, PM your email address to me and i will send you a PayPal invoice for 2c.
In return i'll send you my car.
If you don't receive my car, then we both know you wont care, its only 2cents.
Better yet, how many times would you like to give 2cents away in return for nothing.
I can setup a reoccurring invoice for you to pay me on the frequency of your choice.

Ignorant : "Uneducated "lacking awareness in general"
This is the meaning of the word i find fitting,
The idea 2cents or $1 is not valued is ridiculous!

To a answer your question if the factory worker needs my 2cents.
Yes they do, but this wasn't a charity donation, it was a financial transaction in return for goods.

Not really worth a PayPal claim for 2c.

Last year I received an email from PayPal

During a recent review of your PayPal account, we’ve noticed you’ve had a higher number of claims with your transactions. This could include claims you’ve initiated with PayPal or through your bank.

We may need to exclude you from PayPal’s Buyer Protection Policy if we continue to notice an excessive or unreasonable number of claims, reversals or chargebacks with your transactions. Pending further review, we may also deny any open and future claims.

I didn't have too many claims either, mostly a few small bits of eBay crap from China that never arrived. Stuff that I didn't care about losing 2c over but I made the claims out of principle anyway. I think they must just look at the number of claims you have over some time frame and not the claim value.

Better not to jeapordise future PayPal claims on items that might be of more significant over a 2c claim for this item.

Other people are just receiving them now, so hopefully ours will arrive soon.

If it doesn't, I might email the seller - might not, it's probably not worth 2c of my time.

  • I received mine today. Not the brightest light I've ever seen, worth about 2c for the novelty.

  • Friend says it's arrived in her office, but I haven't collected it yet. Did other people get email from Gearbest asking for good reviews?

  • I got no email about review.. But neither did I receive the item.

  • Got mine, lol @ registered mail. had to sign for the thing.

  • Best 0.01 DR ever > recd today. TY China.. .

    • Still waiting, in Melbourne.

  • gotta keep this thread alive to remind myself there is a parcel coming :)

  • Nowt 'ere

  • God mine today. Registered mail. Wife had to sign for it!!

  • Got mine. Took all of 1 minute for my daughter to brake it. Still, if everything I bought for her gave a minute of fun for every 1-2c spent I'd have an extremely happy daughter.

    • +6

1 minute for my daughter to brake it

Couldn't you stop her in time?

  • Got mine yesterday!

  • Still waiting for it to arrive.

  • Got mine today well packaged in bubble wrap. Tested it and it's working. Although it's brightness is as low as the 2 cents price I paid for it :)

But for sure I appreciate the effort Gearbest put in packing it well and posting it to Sydney from Singapore (Yes Singapore, even I thought I would receive it from Hong kong) for the profit they got by selling this product to me and my email address to others :)

    • … for the profit loss they got by selling this product to me …

      • the profit they got by selling …my email address to others

  • lol got mine today, completely forgot about it.

    (Sydney)

  • Got mine today (Melb)

  • Got mine today too. Was surprised that it was posted out of Singapore instead of China. It can't be all that profitable selling my email address.

  • Still waiting. This is getting ridiculous. Don't think I will buy from GearBest again.

  • I still haven't received mine too, will update once I get it.

    • received mine Thursday, 10th of April. After nearly two months wait… luckily thanks to OZB, I have other torches :P

  • Still waiting. Said it was shipped on the 11th March, so almost 4 weeks and still not here.

  • Still nowt, supposed to have been posted on 7th March.

  • Got mine last week… Finally. No idea what I'm gonna use it for though haha

    • If you come up with an idea the globe will light ;-)

      • But you have to tape it to the top of your head or risk missing an idea.

  • Still waiting..

  • +2

I received two of them last week in different days. Double checked my account and paypal, seems I only ordered one.

  • Got mine last week :-)

  • Got mine too. What to do with it now?

  • Mine finally arrived today. Too much light is escaping through the edge of the "globe". It needs a coat of silver paint on the edge to reflect back the light to increase useable lumination.

    • I thought that was the point?

      • Light escaping through the top thin edge of the globe is not the point. It should not be working like a LED torch and project light towards the ceiling.

The flat disc of the globe is supposed to light up like a real globe, and provide diffused light in front of and behind the plastic disc.

        • Watching the vid, they show the edge many times. Looks like it's intended. Plus if that was blocked, there would hardly be any light.

  • Got mine today

  • Still nothing for me…

      • -1

Thanks for letting me know. It has been 45 calendar days, no delivery notification. Paypal dispute lodged.

  • Received mine one or two weeks ago and it's great for walking in the dark in the house.

  • Have not rec'd my 2 ordered. But did get an 'apology ' email inviting me to spend more money. How many other got Ozbers rec'd that? This was my reply:

This is a pathetic attempt at not sending my order as I PAID and to get me to spend yet more wasted money.

    SEND ME THE ORDER!

    • If anyone is looking for a great use for the DOULEX, it makes a great night time loo navigation tool to have on your bedside table so you don't wake up your partner with a bright light.

      • +2

To make use of this DOULEX I'm going to find a partner. I don't want to waste my 1 cent on something I don't use.

  • Arrived today, not the quickest postage, but I certainly didn't pay express price.
