    I'm thinking overseas travel phone, says is has wi-fi, GPS, etc… Would I cry if it got smashed, wet or stolen?

      The GPS on these cheap Chinese phones can be woeful. ie takes forever to get sync/ if at all.

    Edit: Any Android that has 512MB Ram is not a Smartphone imo. After all, what is the use of it when you cannot use any Apps at all.

        Excellent. My nokia 1100 also supported Messaging, wallpapers, calendar,
        calculator, flashlight, clock. In addition it has better reception than any smart phone.

          When someone says "what is the use of it when you cannot use any Apps at all", then the store rep is attempting to counter this by giving some basic inbuilt examples. Probably a better example might be simply to say "yes it can run Angry Birds", which is likely the case. :)

          "cannot use any apps at all" is a misleading statement as my guess would be that it would be able to use at least some downloadable apps (it has Play Store), but would be limited to those that are able to function within 512mb RAM.

          Phones like this are not for a power user but do have their place considering the price point.
