$63.20 Huawei Ascend G300+ Vodafone Pre-Paid Mobile @ Coles (RRP $99)

150

thought this deal deserves its own post.

20% off Vodafone stuff posted here

Pretty good deal as the G300+ supports Telstra's 850MHz as well as Optus' 900MHz and 2100MHz whereas the standard G300 only supports 850MHz and 2100MHz. So in theory, if you use an Optus SIM (assuming the phone is now unlocked) you'll get better coverage with the G300+ in comparison to the G300.

Deal is on page 23 of current Coles catalogue.

seems like it could be a good backup phone for those prone to breaking screens

  • Great Android phone for the money - I've bought two in the last 12 months, and a G300 before that which I sold when the G300+ was released. Big, bright nice resolution screen, both running the official ICS 4.0.3 and not giving too many issues. The only real limitation is the 512 Mb RAM, but for the dosh it doesn't really matter.

I'm also happy witih mine which cost me a few more dollars in a deal posted last year.
The only niggle I found with it is the occasional failure to respond to a touch.
But for the price I don't care as it's only used occasionally.
Sometimes so infrequently that it's common to go 14-16 days without a battery re-charge!

I have this phone - I have found it very unpleasant to use. Battery life has been appalling with it conking out 3/4rds of the way through a normal day of use. I've also found the screen very unresponsive - have to push 2 or 3 times to get any action sometimes.

I used the official update to 4.0 but it became quickly unusable - which others have found - so I used the official 'downgrade' to get it back to 2.3.

I read great things about it before I got it. Of course, once I started having problems I then found people who'd had the same problems. Oh well, live and learn.

    • Do you have all the connection features enabled (wifi, bt, data, etc) With a phone with only 512mb that will cause the symptoms you mention.

    • With light usage (limited wifi, 2g standard/3g if required, no maps or google+ etc) I get 4-5 days on a charge.

      Great phone for the price.

  • Got this last year and unlocked it for free via Vodafone website. Upgraded to 4.0

Does everything I need a phone to do and more. Takes decent photos. Great MP3 player with loud speaker. Connects with my Google calendar. Good car navigator. Go all day without charging easily, unlike my wife's iPhone 4.

Just wish it had more RAM. Gets a bit unresponsive when two many apps are open and I find it doesn't recognise when I press the screen occasionally. Makes me miss buttons sometimes.

  • sold out everywhere I tried
