Hi all,
First time post so be gentle…
I received an email from Samsung titled '2 x $50 eVouchers to shop Black Friday'. Wasn't necessarily planning to purchase anything but jumped on the website to see what the options were.
I was looking at the Samsung z fold 7 512gb version currently at $2699 (down from $3099).
Started a chat and they offered me a 10% discount code which was stackable with the $50 Black Friday coupon.
In the email it also talks about a 5% discount using Samsung Pay payment option.
So at checkout with 1: reduced phone cost, 2: 10% off, 3: $50 off and 4: 5% off for using Samsung pay got the phone for $2266

I reckoned that was an Ozbargain (relatively…)

Hate to break it to you but launch prices were closer to 1600. So this is a very mid deal.
    Also.. price in title..

    • -1

Title updated, i think you've got the wrong phone, z fold 7 512gb was $2699 at launch unless you add trade in etc

      • +1

Nah mate it was 1600 256 GB

        512gb wasnt too far either

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/914780

        • can confirm, got my 512 at 1600 actually, stacking w trade in discounts brought it to 1.4+ and buying the latest watch 8 44mm Bluetooth came up to 1.9k total for the edu store

    • -1

Wot rubbish, not for a 512 Fold 7, me thinks you have it confused with something else.

      • The launch deal at JB took it down to about that price, even once you factored in the plan cancellation fee.

    phone for $2266

    Bad deal

    • I said relatively :-)

    • But Apple will market theres at that price and sell like hot cakes

  • +1

The price has been much lower, sorry :(

    • I must've missed it, this is the chepaest non-grey import i've seen

      • this is the chepaest non-grey import i've seen

        Won't be for long.

        • So currently an Ozbargain

          • @ODowdCrowd: A Nobargain.

            • @marshmall0w2: Happy to be corrected - provide a better current price, non-trade in, not EDU and i'll stand corrected - that's the whole point of Ozbargain…

              • @ODowdCrowd:

                a better current price

Ah yes the "a bad deal is a good deal because the good deal isn't on" meta

                • @marshmall0w2: Post a better expired deal?

                  • -2

                    @ODowdCrowd: Here
I expect you to do a little reading.. otherwise you're not gonna find a lot of value here on OzB. People usually do provide a lot of context in the comments.

@bruhminister: Maybe i need to speak slower for you….I apologise

@ODowdCrowd: The entire agenda of OzBargain is to pinch pennies and save as much as possible. What you're describing is called the lazy tax!
                        This isn't NormieBargain

What I've constantly been saying is that the device was available for around 1600 during sale.. and I have provided a link to support what I said.. now you could continue adding caveats to that "non exchange" "non edu".
Most of the people don't actually send the devices and cop the $60 penalty.. sell their old devices on ebay or facebook marketplace.. but you're out here arguing about how this convenient deal is a DEAL instead of actually reading the comments on said deal..

      • Just use the search tab on the website my man and scroll.

  • Never getting this as the biggest disappointment is the removal of S Pen compatibility 😔 as I'm one who uses it on a daily basis. I'm hoping they bring it back to the Fold 8.

Looks like I can get a 512GB down to $2,052.51.

    EDU Price: $2324.25
    EDU account first purchase 5%
    Loyalty 5%
    $50 email code

I think this is as good as they get outside of launch

    • -4

I think this is as good as they get outside of launch

      Then you're wrong.

    • i get the same $2,052.51

so close to pulling the trigger… i need a new phone my current one doesn't last the whole day now.

      • Just replace the battery and save a few thousand

  • Or wait for the tri fold

    • I'm interested in that too… probably out of my price range initially tho

  • My iphone 17 pro max 512 is cheaper with gift card.
I am using fold4 at home and iphone for work.

Got bad experience with fold4 as inner screen durability is too low

    • I had the same issue with the 4, the 5 seems better and would hope each model is an improvement

  • Yikes

  • +1

everyone saying this is not cheap then what is cheap? I haven't been able to find them better than this for the last 6 months?

    • Me neither, that's why i posted it.
mashmallow brain (only posted once on OzB - see below, but comments to the Wazzo) just sounds like a troll with too much time on his hands.

The best time to buy any latest flagship Samsung phone or watch is launch deals with "trade in" bonuses (note: you dont actually need to trade anything in). Either through EDU / EPP stores, or via retailer plan bonuses (sign up and cancel).

This may be the cheapest price since then - I dont know, because I havent kept track.

But certainly, these phones were cheapest at launch (even 1TB Fold 7 was cheaper than this). Same for the watches - was a Galaxy Watch 8 deal posted today, which was more expensive than at launch.

I'm not saying that this is not a deal if you want to buy the phone now (as I said, I havent monitored prices, so have no idea what a good price is currently). It's just not as good as the launch deals.

  • $2174 @EPP

  • anyone got the spare $50 code please DM me, much appreciated

  • +2

Meh deal. I bought it for roughly $1600 at launch.

  • -1

    No deal period.

Literally no one here buys a Samsung phone midway through its cycle when every ozbargainer knows best deal is aways at launch.

    • when is fold 8 coming out?
