Hi all,
First time post so be gentle…
I received an email from Samsung titled '2 x $50 eVouchers to shop Black Friday'. Wasn't necessarily planning to purchase anything but jumped on the website to see what the options were.
I was looking at the Samsung z fold 7 512gb version currently at $2699 (down from $3099).
Started a chat and they offered me a 10% discount code which was stackable with the $50 Black Friday coupon.
In the email it also talks about a 5% discount using Samsung Pay payment option.
So at checkout with 1: reduced phone cost, 2: 10% off, 3: $50 off and 4: 5% off for using Samsung pay got the phone for $2266

I reckoned that was an Ozbargain (relatively…)

    Hate to break it to you but launch prices were closer to 1600. So this is a very mid deal.

          can confirm, got my 512 at 1600 actually, stacking w trade in discounts brought it to 1.4+ and buying the latest watch 8 44mm Bluetooth came up to 1.9k total for the edu store

      launch prices were

      False claim. The "1600" thing was a hoop-jumping exercise involving trade-ins, vouchers, and a bunch of other stupid steps. There was never a "price" advertised as 1600 as you're claiming. In other cases, the deal involved signing up for a Telstra contract or other horrible conditions. Even used ones on ebay sell for more than 1600.

                        @ODowdCrowd: The entire agenda of OzBargain is to pinch pennies and save as much as possible. What you're describing is called the lazy tax!
                        This isn't NormieBargain

                        What I've constantly been saying is that the device was available for around 1600 during sale.. and I have provided a link to support what I said.. now you could continue adding caveats to that "non exchange" "non edu".
                        Most of the people don't actually send the devices and cop the $60 penalty.. sell their old devices on ebay or facebook marketplace.. but you're out here arguing about how this convenient deal is a DEAL instead of actually reading the comments on said deal..

    Never getting this as the biggest disappointment is the removal of S Pen compatibility 😔 as I'm one who uses it on a daily basis. I'm hoping they bring it back to the Fold 8.

      -rumours- it's going to be on the Fold 8; i had a 6 with s-pen and used it a bit so wasn't a big loss for me as I preferred form factor however always found it odd to remove features that made a device really stand out. Definitely welcome it in the Fold 8 if they do it - so I can use it for note taking on the niche moments again.

    My iphone 17 pro max 512 is cheaper with gift card.
    I am using fold4 at home and iphone for work.

    Got bad experience with fold4 as inner screen durability is too low

        reddit would say the fold 7 is garbo like the fold 4 (which had massive hinge problems) when you follow it closely.

        I don't know how some people handle their devices though - my fold 6 daily driven has been perfect and my fold 7 since launch going well (both daily driven, i gave my fold6 away) even with kids using the inner screen.

        My brothers flip 6 though bit the dust really fast with the screen protector coming out and I assume pinching screen when it was closed and destroyed the screen. (Fixed under warranty though).

      The best time to buy any latest flagship Samsung phone or watch is launch deals with "trade in" bonuses (note: you dont actually need to trade anything in). Either through EDU / EPP stores, or via retailer plan bonuses (sign up and cancel).

      This may be the cheapest price since then - I dont know, because I havent kept track.

      But certainly, these phones were cheapest at launch (even 1TB Fold 7 was cheaper than this). Same for the watches - was a Galaxy Watch 8 deal posted today, which was more expensive than at launch.

      I'm not saying that this is not a deal if you want to buy the phone now (as I said, I havent monitored prices, so have no idea what a good price is currently). It's just not as good as the launch deals.

        The cancellation bonuses are going down the toilet soon - they really switched it up recently and I assume it was due to this behaviour.

        The guys commenting it's a bad deal is because they're looking historically at the prices and snags up things when its considered ATL/best.

        This price is likely the 'best deal at the moment' for this phone. However as Caprimulgus shared - on launch is the best times to ever pick up samsung flagships, it's so heavily discounted with vouchers, codes and trade-in bonuses.

        If you are actively looking at getting it now - probably best bet. Else give it a few months and watch it drop more as Fold 8 gets closer to launch and you can decide for a discounted fold 7 or all these bonuses on fold 8.

        I never used edu portal as i cannot get an edu address. I did however use the commbank yello deal for the first time and utilised all these codes and bonuses that was circling.

    might not be the best deal but half decent deal and lines up with my needs. tax deductible too softens the blow from the $1600 launch
