Would this apply in store? To negate shipping costs. Thank you

    • Yes, just got a couple of them in store.

    Is it worth $35 ?

Is Oroton that good ? I haven't used Oroton before so you appreciate comments, good or bad

The large ones are incredible, I've been using mine for nearly 5 years. They can handle quite extreme conditions really well. Having said that, I've heard that the smaller ones aren't as good. They seem to be decent, and a lot better than a cheapie, but possibly a bit flimsy in high winds, storms, etc.

I can concur with the large ones.

Small ones are also solid, but very bulky (size and weight) to be carried around in a ladies handbag type situation.

Love my larger size Oroton Umbrella. Have also had a smaller Oroton umbrella in my time, but that one broke one day in the wind. I would recommend investing in the larger Oroton umbrella, if anything. Only downside being it doesn't fit into a handbag!

    • They are quite chunky as someone said below. Also, the pop-up mechanism is much more solid and heavily sprung than your usual umbrella even though it takes some arm strength to prime it. Almost like racking a shotgun.

    • I've had 3-4 small ones die on me, they're more for show than function. Go with a Boston if you're looking for a compact umbrella - had mine for years.

If you want to spend that much money on an umbrella, buy something like one from Senz. You're actually paying for the functionality rather than the (apparent) good looks.

where can you buy senz for $35?

better comparison/value is woodworm or phoenix :)

  • Only applies at factory outlets.

have always been getting these at this price from the birkenhead point outlet. not much of a deal

"Was $65"…. pfft…. may as well state "Was $165".

$20-30 for an umbrella sounds about right- regardless of the brand the chinese factory stamps on the handle on any given day.

  • got this one for$20 from DFO Sydney last year.

I had the large umbrella which only lasted one Winter. Personally i wouldn't recommend it. One strong wind gust and inside wire snapped.

      Too many baked beans?

    • agreed, one strong wind gust and inside wire snapped, I have one with broken string

  • Oroton have both the big and small umbrellas on sale (small is 20, forgot how much large is) on boxing day, and I feel I've seen it another time throughout the year.

I love my baby Oroton umbrella, but I will say, as much as I love the "one touch" mechanism to spread the canopy, it takes muscle to close it again, which is not ideal if you don't want to be struggling to close your umbrella and get your hands all wet.
But my umbrella has latest for over a year, so doing good!
