Looks like the Kenwood Cashback will work for lots of other appliances too including "…any Kenwood kMix Food Processor, Bench Blender, Triblade Hand Blender, Hand Mixer, Chopper, Kettle or Toaster".

    http://www.kenwood-australia.com/media/pdfs/promotions/kMixM…

    • Yes! the coupon applies to other items. Kenwood Appliances - CH250 - Multi-Blade Chopper listed at $72 would be $42. Lowest I have seen

    Thank you OP. Ordered one!

Thanks OP, ordered one and chose free pick up in-store. Cheers.

    Thanks OP! :)

  • Seriously tho. who buys a 2 slice toaster… 4 slice minimum :)

    • +1

I have the 4 slice version of this - it's been pretty good. At this price you could probably buy four and then be able to toast 8 slices at once. ;-)

I would prefer long slots to toast large slices from wide loaf of bread…. but hey, otherwise it's a decent toaster. Have never used the warming tray/toast stand though.

  • ORDERED :)

Just thought I'd share the experience of owning this, bought just under 1 yr ago from Bing Lee too.
First impression is really good and toast well and evenly but after about 4 months it starts to toast very unevenly some parts burnt and some not toasted. so I had to replace another. I guess for the price you can afford to just replace them regularly. Still a positive for the price.
Sorry out of the topic…. but onsumerism is just getting out of hand thesedays, all the chaeap Chinese goods are made virtually disposable and adding to the unnecessary landfill even large TV's that used to last a good 15yrs these days may only last you a few years (not saying I intend to use it for 15yrs).
Long gone are good quality stuff that you can buy and built to last…sigh :(

Yeah, Planned Obsolescence had been brewing for decades and finally raised its ugly head across most products back in the late 70s & early 80s and is now just being perfected & perfected with time :( Did you know the humble lightbulb can very easily last hundreds of years without blowing? Around about 100 years ago a cartel was formed between the bulb manufacturers to redesign bulbs so that they blew and people needed to replace them because the earlier bulbs just didn't ever fail! Makes you think what else could easily be produced to last forever, hmm. Interesting doco on this topic here: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/light-bulb-conspiracy/

In Chinas defense though they have been making some very decent stuff over the last 10 years too so we can't blindly label everything produced in China (even the cheap stuff) as junk. History repeats as this is exactly what happened to Japan back in the day… they just copied the American & European products (including cars) and continually refined them (& of course still are) until they reached the perfect point of quality vs cost etc. Same thing happening now and the same thing will happen again in the future.

All we can do is share our experiences and for those poor ones make sure others are aware of them as you've done here. Nice work!

      • Thanks, it is most interesting re the light bulb story!
Wifey likes her toast perfect in the morning and rather than just buying "another" average toaster I would not mind paying a bit more for something that last a bit longer and more consistent performance as it is a hassle to me and the environment; having to replace toasters every couple of years ….although I am at near the point of purchasing a commercial grade toaster that cost an arm due to frustration. If anyone has really good experiences with a moderately priced reliable consistent Toaster up to $120 pls advice or PM me. Cheers!

"The Phoebus cartel set up in 1924 has been accused of preventing technological advances that would have produced longer-lasting light bulbs. The document Light Bulb Conspiracy claimed that the Phoebus cartel deliberately limited the expected lifetime of a light bulb to 1000 hours. However, 1000 hours was a reasonable optimum life expectancy for most bulbs. A longer lifetime can be obtained only at the expense of efficiency: more electricity is wasted as heat and less light is obtained."

      • That is one of the craziest things I've heard. If that were true I (or someone else) could easily make millions (billions?) by starting a company that sold ever lasting light bulbs.

Sometimes its really hard to believe what other people believe…

        • Hmmm. Think that through a little longer…

      • Side note, check out the 4 part series on the "Seven Sisters" on YouTube, not related to lightbulbs but rather oil cartels

Just throw out my old $9 kmart toaster yesterday, seems to be good timing. Thanks OP.

SS Toaster? Is that the one with the swastika logo on the side?

  • I got a display model from TGG on the last promo, after cash back I paid only $10 for my toaster. Received my gift card 4 days after I lodged online.
A much better toaster than the cheap one I had before, toasts came out more even but it took a bit longer to toast.

The last sentence sounds like a tongue twister :)

  • $13 shipping to Perth rules it out for me, but good deal for pick up or some of the other states where postage might is cheaper.

  • +1

Thanks OPS, got one from Hornsby NSW

  • No stock in Chatswood but they ordered some and will arrive today.

  • Has being told there is a lot of stock in the warehouse so ask them to order it in for you.I just got one. Good price at $45.00 rather than $48.00 also at Bing Lee.

can you upload your invoice? TA

      • +1

Remember to redeem your cashback first then upload if you plan to do that.

        • +1

Thanks Mily. That is very kind of you otherwise I might not be able to redeem my cashback if more than one tried to redeem it. There is a lot of good people in this world.

        • +1

          Doh! Evil plan foiled ;)

  • I got DJ to price match it. Wasn't easy but they finally caved in. Saved me shipping charges and I got to use my gift card which I bought from the DJ Amex cashback deal.

    • Update: the cashback was super quick. It said in the T&C that it will take up to 8 months from the CLOSE OF THE PROMOTION, which isn't until May. So I was expecting this could take up till July.

I made the claim on a Sunday, and received the EFTPOS card on Thursday (today). This is terrific service. I could even return it for a refund, but I won't. It's better than what I was using.

$18 is cheaper than a no name Coles or Target branded toaster, which is anywhere from $20-25.

  • I receive my EFTPOS on Friday. It is around 4 working days. I have not use the toaster as yet so not sure if it is any good.
