bought a pair of these last time around - very happy with them

  • +1

Very happy with mine, from the lucky dip sale late last year. I'm using them right now. The build is far better than my M9P and M31… and they sound awesome

  • Hi Mike,
How about $39.99 + $8.95 with Fedex shipping?

I'm keen to get one to replace my M16 that broke yesterday but don't want to wait 10-20 days :(

    • Sorry, the pricing wouldn't work. It's probably possible to do the M9P Second-Gen model at that price with FedEx shipping (I would have to check on the exact shipping cost) but definitely not the M-Duo.

    • WOW, not asking much eh, Half price not enough eh, need to see how close you can get to free headphones just pay shipping? Why not ask for A161s while you are at it?
If you are REALLY that worried about economy but still getting em fast, you could buy a few of these at half price and then sell a couple at 25% off to make up the difference, tho even that seems a lil mean, at least it is doing something about it yourself.

  • Buying 2 pairs now. Had some old mp11's. Ive had no complaints about the earphones and Mikes customer service is second to none.

    • +1

      :)

  • Ordered one pair. Not seen any bad review till now. I will wait and see how they perform.

  • Thanks Mike:)

  • Awesome, just ordered as well.

  • How is the cord quality on this one? The price and sound quality never seem to be an issue but always a pity when after one month of use the sound stops coming out of one or both earpieces from one too many tugs or bends.

    • +3

Should be a problem with these - we learned from past experience and really paid attention to all the wire junctions on this model. They're all new molds designed just for the M-Duo. The wire itself is a TPE material which is pretty strong.

Maybe some more M-Duo owners can chime in on this.

      • +3

        *not be a problem? :P

        • Shouldn't it be "Shouln't" :-)

      • Mike, did you mean "Should not be a problem with these" instead of "Should be a problem with these"

        • +7

Yes, that's what I meant. I can't figure out how to edit that comment =(.

        • +1

cant edit a comment once somebody replies to it unfortunately. I guess it is very much in keeping with honesty in trading, but sometimes it sucks for typos lol

        • Ah, that makes sense. I guess it can prevent confusion.

      • I have been using mine for over 10 months now without any issues. I think one of the reason is the included free hard carry case. Which not only help avoid tugs or bends but also tangles. Only thing I miss on these are the volume buttons.

  • +1

are these what some call armature? i believe that means multiple drivers with a crossover making the sound balanced over the drivers?

    • +3

Balanced armature is a different driver type. These use dynamic (moving coil) drivers. You can have single- and multiple-driver configurations of both balanced armature and dynamic driver earphones, though single- is more common for dynamic and multi- is more common for balanced armatures.

The M-Duo has one 9mm subwoofer and one 5mm tweeter/midrange driver in each earpiece. You can find a diagram of it here: http://www.meelec.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/MDuo_2.png

If you're interested in Balanced Armature tech the wiki article has more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headphones#Balanced_armature

  • Mike, with the remote and mic, where is this located? Love the position of the remote and mic on the S6P, but don't like the "over ear" and memory wire style. If the remote on these is located in the same spot, then this would be an ideal set for me.

    • +1

Unfortunately it's only on the y-split in the sports models. On the M-Duo it's more conventional - on the wire leading up to the left earpiece, maybe 4 inches down from the earpiece.

      • +1

        Argh, that's annoying.
Oh well i guess I'll just stick with the S6P then for the time being.
Thanks for the quick reply anyway.

        • Sure thing!

  • I bought these before, good at full price

  • Bought one - absolutely amazing price, and even better customer service. 10/10 would buy again.

  • I just spent $80 on JBL Synchros S200a. Sigh I wish this deal was 2 weeks ago.

  • +1

Would you possibly do a similar deal to wireless one soon?

    • +1

Still struggling with inventory on the higher-end wireless models, especially the new Matrix2, but hopefully towards the end of the month that will be back in stock and we'll be able to promote it.

    • Yes, would love Bluetooth ones with good sound quality.

  • Looking at the website trying to find the TRRS adaptor. Do you no longer stock/make them? I have the Galaxy S, and the MP9's, currently have a bulldog clip holding the mic button down to allow the right connection. Would be nice to be able to use the mic as intended.

    • We discontinued our adapter last year because all phones currently sold in the US are natively compatible with our headsets.

You can still get one cheaply on eBay though: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-CTIA-to-OMTP-Adapter-Convert…

      • Great, thanks for the link!

        • I can verify that the adapter from the link above works ok, after discovering that I needed it for the S6P and my phone, thanks Mike.

        • Thanks Punkboy, bought one. And thanks for the deal Mike, bought a pair of the M-Duo.

      • I got one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5mm-Male-to-3-5mm-Female-Phone-…
Sounds great and the flat cable looks great too. Cant believe they are only a buck! Shipped damn fast as well for china. Red or Black. I have pretty good ears and cat tell the difference between this and the MEElec genuine cable Mike (*being awesome) provided, even using my Ultimate Ears UE6000 headphones which are considered about the best closed cans on the market.

        • +1

Wow that's cheap. I think they have an error on their diagram - they show the iPhone and Samsung/Nokia having the same pinout. For Nokia the mic and ground (C and D) should be switched. If that is indeed an error then this adapter should work as well as the Sony one :)

        • yeah- they say
"Function: Transfer the headset between iphone/Moto and HTC Samsung Nokia"
And it does crossover the mic and gnd connections (personal experience) so the diagram is wrong. Could have sworn it USED to show C & D swapped over lol.

  • Bought 3 with fed ex priority post. Can't wait to get it in a few days time. Happy to sell one to anyone who wants to go halves in the shipping cost. $64.14AUS in total for one set of ear phones. Pick up Sydney CBD. PM me.

  • how is this different from M9P? is there an offer for M9P also?

    • +1

There was a deal for the M9P recently; wasn't planning to do another for a while. The M-Duo was designed to improve on our other M-series models with better clarity and resolution and deeper, yet cleaner (as opposed to bloated) bass. It also has slightly better treble presence as the M9P rolls off a little at the top.

      • great service.
        Thank you Mike..

  • don't need another one, but tempted with the price..gosh you gotta hate ozbargain sometimes haha

  • May I know which 1 is better? Sony XBA-3 or this 1?

  • hi mike, does the normal postage comes with tracking number? cheers!

    • There's a USPS tracking number but it's up to the local carrier (in this case Australia Post) to scan it in. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't so you may or may not see the tracking update after it leaves the US.

  • Bought a pair last time. One of the ear pieces had a notable indented scratch and was missing any spare ear buds. Unfortunately they arrived while on holiday so didn't pursue any replacement.

Recommend checking them when they arrive incase you get what may have been refurbished too.

    • You know I am sure they would be happy to help you out - I got a pair missing the other size ear buds, and the not only sent the spare buds, they sent a whole second pair of earphones!

    • +1

Please send me an email or PM with your order number and a picture of the scratch if you can - we can definitely replace them. All of our refurbished products go on eBay and are listed as such - the ones sold on our website should always be brand new.

  • Thank you Mike. Bought two.

  • Turn bass up high and treble low. Insert item up AN#S to create a splendiferous experience, much better then the Recto Rattler 2000.

  • Any issues with using these while running MEE?

    • Depends on your ears and the depth of the seal you can achieve - these can be very secure in the ear, but not if you have small ears/ear canals. Personally I would rather use something that's not metal and has an over-the-ear fit to prevent having to re-adjust my earphones.

      • +1

Well I ordered a pair. These might just be for work and I will keep my running Sennheisers for.. well running.

  • MUSt ReSiST!! 3 sets of MEE should be enough - finace would kill me, A151s are already magnificent. Such an awesome price, such an awesome company, SO want to know just how toe curling good they sound (sure it is amazing), SUCH an awesome price…….

    AAAAAARRRGGH ME WANT!

  • How are these compare tot Klipsch s5? I am not sure whether in sound quality wise I would be downgrading or upgrading.

  • how does this compare to the m9p 2nd gens? is there a significant difference?

    • Can't compare with other manufacturers' headphones but with ours- definitely. The M-Duo was designed to improve on our other M-series models including the M9 with better clarity and resolution and deeper, yet cleaner (as opposed to bloated) bass. It also has slightly better treble as the M9P rolls off at the top and doesn't sound very "crisp".

Whether it's a significant difference really depends on the listener - if you consider yourself a discerning music listener, pay attention to the quality of your music library, etc., then it will be a significant difference. But if you just need something to listen to a few songs here and there, the M9P should be close enough to the M-Duo.

  • Hi,

This looks like a good deal, I've been looking to upgrade from my sennheiser cx300 ii's

How do they compare to each other? Do you guys think the M duos would be much better than the sennheiser?

    Thanks

    • All good picked up 3 for myself and a few mates. It goes through aus post right rep? I'm not home often and usually pick it up from the local post office

      • That's correct, it will be handed off to Aus Post for delivery within Australia. Thanks for your order!

  • +1

Bought them last Friday and have received them today (FedEx express). All I have to say is these headphones are incredible. Clarity and Bass AWESOME. The number of eartips allows for a very comfy fit. Design is slick and goes all the way into my ear which allows for extremely good noise isolation. Mic works on both IOS and Android running latest software versions.
Only neg, No volume adjustments on the ear (but who cares when it sounds like this)

  • Darn…I'm another person who couldn't resist :)

  • Hi Mike,

I bought 2 pair of earphones on 14/03/2014, how can I trace my order?

    Thanks
    JS

    • I placed order for M-duo and I received an email with the tracking number.

  • Just missed out. Any discount on this? Urgently need new ones :)

    • No plans to run this again for a while but if you send me an email or private message I can price match it.

  • Wow that was quick, arrived today and I ordered at the end of the promotion!

I am a happy little leprechaun, now if I could only work out how to get into the packaging… lol.

edit: quite strong magnets were holding the front flap closed, once I realised it just opens like a book instead of trying to slide out the inner box it was easy!

  • Received today ordered on the 20th. So far so good :) although I gotta say that AusPost's service is incomparable to USPS with my tracking going completely silent as soon as it entered Australia.
