Verbatim are not TY. They would probably be put in the top two in terms of quality dvd-r media but they are not one and the same.
What's TY?
Verbatim are one of the best anyway. Better than Sony. Maybe 2nd to TDK?
FYI, there are rebadged TY YUDEN000-T03 sold as Verbatim DVD+R 16x Made in Japan. very rare these days …

Josh 81, TY stands for Taiyo Yuden that are widely acknowledged as the best quality blank DVD media available. They can be bought online from shops such as www.jpldisplays.com.au
@gabbyh: i dunno why people r so obsessed with quality when it comes to dvd media.
I've used good and cheap branded media and they all have the same result i.e the dvd works!!!
@neosin: well. the cheap one's only last for approx 1 year. then you will get crc error when you try to read it.

bought 4 dvd+r verbatim for $13 each at officework today! (they can't allow 5% off because ht and officework are the same company, big deal :P)
