If only the warranty was better

    • Statutory warranty.

    • Yes because it would be customer returns that the manufacturer has repaired and reselling.

I am always put off by the 3 month warranties. If they don't have confidence in the product, why should I?

They do no play MKV files according to the specs so that will mean a pass for a lot of people..

If they're fully refurbished why such a crappy warranty period?

Obviously you have no faith that these products will last after a dodgey repair job that you can't guarantee it.

If you need to offload unreliable second hand stuff try Gumtree.

    • Probably because maybe they were second hand when the customers returned it under warranty and then repaired but was was still a used good.

  • I think aslong as a customer knows the warranty period there shouldn't be a problem with a 3 month warranty - a purchase is made on this basis.

That said, ACL would give you 1 year? on such a device - so saying you only get a 3 month warranty is abit deceptive. (law is the law… I guess), might aswell state a 12 month warranty and reflect it in the price.

    • These aren't sold as brand new goods they're second hand refurbished. You're lucky to get 3 months warranty on what was second hand goods. If they were brand new they wouldn't be refurbished.

not really correct, they aren't 2nd hand, they still fall under ACL. but whats your point?

  • Topfield anyday!!

    • I've had Toppy's in the past and always wanted the Wiz, but just found them to be a bit pricier. I wouldv'e said Top v Wiz was pretty much a Ford v Holden thing!

    • Still love the Tivo. Can you still buy them new?

      • Tivo dead.

Not really any standout recorders like there used to be.
I currently have a Humax running IceTV.

      • I bought a new 160GB Tivo years ago and have bought 2 second hand 320GB ones since. I gave the 160GB to the in laws after they used it at our place and fell in love! They're still getting $300-$400+ on average second hand!
I definitely think it was the easiest most straight forward pvr out there! The only thing that detracted from it was when they killed the streaming component here in Oz!
Edit: And no needing to pay for a subscription to Ice!

  • lol you can double the warranty to 6 months by paying an extra $24.95

It should be a 12 month warranty

    • No where to add it to cart. Is not available for purchase so not in stock. Says enter your email address to be notified when it's available. That is no good.

      • It was there but maybe sold out

        • Did say last items in stock from that google cache. Obviously sold out quick. Page isn't even there any more is saying product is no longer available. No good now.

        • Sure. But I think the point is: 3 months is not a good warranty.

My laptop is second hand and still came with 12 months.
