thanks poster, sounds good. just a small question (new to afl n footy)… if we have no kids, can we go to watch this match on a family ticket as well?

    • +1

Yes, I just requested 4 adult tickets and have already printed them out.

  • +3

a refund is available to those that might want to leave before half time. after the last game, that should be most.

    • Bad kicking is bad football.

    • After the last game? More like for the last 10 years!

      • It's been 9 years since their first round 1 win. I think my mate said since they haven't been bottom of the ladder after the first 3 round but that doesn't seem right.. He is a die-hard Melbourne fan though and supports them through thick and thin.

        • +1

Agreed - a true fan sticks with their club through the thick and thin. I just hope that Melbourne will one day achieve the fame & glory of its former days

  • Just got my tickets, up to 6 Adult tickets available when you enter the code.

As an Eagles supporter in the City of Casey………THANKYOU

  • Do Melbourne have any supporters though? They need relegation.

  • "hot-to-trot" must be marketing speak for "defeated by wooden spoon favourites".
    Go Saints :)

  • Is it only City of Casey residence?

    • Don't think so. I booked though I live far from the region of Casey!

    • +1

You sound jelly that we don't pimp our club jumpers out to our sponsors :), even the A league is more of a national sport than the NRL, that said… Go Storm!

  • Even the Dromana Dribblers vs the Frankston Farts U12 third grade game will draw a bigger crowd than this. Not surprised they are giving away free tickets. Worth staying to the end to see if the Eagles kick a record score.

  • Anyone else unable to get their ticket? I clicked on the Click here link from http://www.melbournefc.com.au/casey and then logged in. Then it took me to a page where I could click on "Melbourne v West Coast Eagles MCG" but nothing happens?

    • same here

  • Pomo code not working

  • Can you see the deal off an iphone? Doesn't seem to go to the link?

  • hey soup I kept trying and it eventually worked…

  • Hi,

I'm from the Melbourne Football Club. This promotion is for residents in the City of Casey only, a council region where we have a 30 year partnership.

If you have registered for tickets and either haven't included your full address details and phone number or you do not live in the City of Casey region, your ticket(s) unfortunately will not be able to be scanned at the game to grant access. If you turn up to the game with these tickets and you are not from the area, you may be asked to show identification.

The is an initiative to engage residents in the area and encourage them to come to the game, not a general ticket giveaway.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Go Dees!

    • +10

Given where the Dees are as a club, if ANYONE is willing to spend their afternoon watching them play rather than doing ANYTHING else, you should be embracing them with open arms, whether they have paid for their tickets or otherwise.

    • +6

If that condition wasn't part of your T&C's which were located on the page or at least relatively visible, then legally you'll be liable for non-performance.

  • +4

WOW. What a bummer. I was so excited having just printed off my tickets for the big game, only to come back to Ozbargain and find that the DEES really are on a downer!! there was no mention what-so-ever that you needed to be a Casey resident to receive this offer in full. Being a Carlton supporter I thought it would be nice to show some support for the always ill-fated DEEs. BUT NOT NOW. It is kind of obvious now why the Demons are doing so poorly…their management are a bunch of tight arses. Thanks for the NO-FUN attitude MELBOURNE FC. Oh yeah GOODLUCK !! YOU WILL NEED IT> EAGLES ARE GOING TO DESTROY YOU !

    Hi All,

Thank you for your feedback. I am unsure of the person that posted this offer on the page initially, I would love to speak to them if they come forward. This offer has only been advertised within the City of Casey area via local newspapers, schools, libraries, train stations and Auskick Centres to celebrate the partnership with the region. The ad that has been posted on here is tailored for people in the region and was not developed for wider distribution. We invest heavily in the region via community programs, player visits and hold practice matches and regular training at the local VFL ground.

We also run a very successful program called Demon Heartland where we have tickets available to a number of games throughout the season for groups to apply for. These can be any type of group including school groups, community groups and charity groups. This program is not specific to the City of Casey region and any groups can register for this. Information on this program can be found at http://www.melbournefc.com.au/melbourne/the-club/community/c…. For both of these programs, along with other initiatives around women's football we distribute over 15,000 tickets to our games per year.

Please contact [email protected] if you have any further questions about this Sunday's game or any of our other matches throughout the year.

      Hi MFC,

I posted this deal this morning after seeing the flyer at the train station which was outside of the vicinity of the City of Casey (Noble Park).

The flyer does not indicated you needed to live in the City of Casey.
When I registered for my tickets, it seemed that my address was not validated against the surrounding area. At no stage was I told that I was ineligible.

I would expect that the MFC will honour all tickets that were request in good faith. As one of Australia's oldest clubs you should treat all people with dignity and respect.

Probably you should have better targeted the promotion maybe including terms and conditions would have been beneficial.

Through the promotion of your deal on ozbargains, I believe that you have received far more publicity than you may have otherwise expected. But I'm also sure that you would be happy to have collected the details of people outside of the region who are now more "engaged" with your club.

      Thanks

PS Can't wait for the snow season to start.

put them on ebay for $5

but seriously psionix is right - this is the sort of situation where MFC could try to gain some sort of following from those who do take advantage of the situation to obtain freebies (for a change) and enjoy a day at the footy for nothing - but also spending $50 on food/drinks etc.
MFC are not losing $50k by having to open an entire grandstand out of this offer being abused (only a extra few thousand will show up), so really what is the harm here.

    small thinking club thinking small.

  • +4

What a letdown. Not like the Demons would fill a quarter of that stadium anyway. They need all the supporters that they can get. Why not honour the current tickets and no more.

  • thanks… might dust off my red and blue jumper this weekend.

  • Hahahaha! At least your reputation cant get any lower MFC!

Given the flyer I'd assume the city of Casey is a very erm… 'ethnic' area?

    • +2

cong da biet noi mai be?

    • -4

Given your comment I'd assume you haven't travelled much?
Given your comment I'd assume you don't know the difficulty in learning a second language?
Given your comment I'd assume you probably say things like "you're in Australia, speak English" with pride.

Sport can play a fantastic role in introducing people from other cultures into Australian society.

Go and see a bit of the world mattlol, you might gain some appreciation for the little things.
…Like a flyer on a light pole welcoming you (in your native tongue) into a big part of a strange, crazy land's ways…

      • +3

Given your comment, you obviously take yourself pretty seriously??. I have a half Vietnamese nephew and I, myself am part Irish, Scottish, Indian, Chinese, Croation, French, born in Australia. So all I have to say to you is: Stop taking yourself so seriously. Lighten-up and get a life where you joke about diversity.. not get ANGRY!!

P.S Keep your save the World comments off a forum like this.

  • No problem getting in, no id checks, barcode scans fine for 3 people all using tickets under my name. Gl all!

Next time you invite an entire city along try not to lose by 93 points.

  • was the stand full? just wondering how many ozbargainers & family/city of casey residents actually went to the game.

i wrote to MFC and received a reply… (sharing with the community)

Thank you for your email. We appreciate all of your feedback below regarding the free family ticketing offer for Casey residents.

This particular promotion was an initiative to engage residents in the City of Casey as part of our 30 year partnership with the area where we do a lot of work within the local community. As a Club we are actually limited by the number of tickets that we are able to give away by the AFL, which is why we wanted to ensure that residents of this area received their tickets as a priority. All tickets were free and we give out a total of 15,000 free tickets over the course of the season.

Everyone who applied for tickets through this promotion received them and no one was blocked from attending. They each got an email on Friday with details on the game and will receive a follow up email later this week.

Moving forward, we will ensure that we include terms and conditions on such offers as this is the first time we have experienced a third party publishing it on external sites. We certainly acknowledge that this was a learning curve and will work to prevent similar things from happening again in the future.

Thank you again for writing to us and for sharing your views.
    Kind regards,

    • +1

      Thanks for sharing their response.

I in fact received a similar email. But as they decided that the details I submitted were invalid.

"Unfortunately in this case, yourself and a number of other people that registered after seeing it posted on the site chose to provide invalid details and as a result the tickets will not work on the day. "

No where on the flyer/website or ticketmaster registration process was it a requirement that my details needed to be validated.

That's a nice reply. Too bad the football department don't learn from their mistakes.

15,000 poor bastards have to watch this crap team over the course of the season. Oh, the humanity.
