Android App - Snype, $0.99 Introductory Price

120

Hi fellow OzBargainers,

This deal is for those of you who have a large number of apps and/or contacts on your Android device.

I just released my second app to Google Play, Snype. I created it because I was not satisfied with the current methods of accessing my apps/contacts.

Snype has a unique dual-index system where switching between "snyping" apps and contacts is almost instant.

It also has a unique "side panel" mode where apps and contacts can be accessed simply by scrolling a finger up or down the edge of the display, which is always active no matter which app you are currently in. A list will appear and automatically begin scrolling to the location in the index that the finger is pointing to.

The premium version is $0.99 for the introductory period. I haven't yet confirmed the normal price, but it will be at least double that.

For those of you who partake in the full measure of OzBargainy goodness and won't pay for anything, there is something here for you as well. Snype has no ads and all functionality is available for free. The premium version is only needed for supporting development and allows you to customise the appearance of your lists (including a grid mode) and the side panels.

Pretty good app, especially of you dont run the latest android (where google now search box doubles as device search, inc contacts, music, app etc). For those that has google now, i feel as it searches more thoroughly its more useful for me, but i can see how this app will definitely benefit some users too.

    Good work!

    • Thanks hippo2s!

I intended for the search function to be used in those rare occasions when you can't remember what an app's name starts with. The index is the main feature and most of the time it is much faster than clicking in a search box, waiting for the keyboard to pop up, typing some letters, then selecting the app you are after.

Yes, the hot zones does allow much quicker access for sure. Love the dual sides and allowing each to load either contacts or apps.

I am going to try and use this instead of going into the drawer that way saves me time from swiping between all the pages just to reach an app further down the alphabet.

May end up being a drawer replacement, and that my friend, would be a very cool & powerful change to how apps are accessed.

        • That's the one. Enjoy!

P.S. If you long-press you can do other things easily like uninstall the app or go to its page in Google Play.

I see it, very nice…. Thats where this app's value is… Drawer replacement. No more swiping left and right like mad a la ios users.

          Purchased.

        • Thanks hippo2s. I hope it's not too long before your time saved hunting for apps and contacts compensates for your lost 99 cents!

        • Feature request… For paid users, give us option to remove the reminder icon in status bar, where real estate is at a premium.

        • What's the reminder icon? Are you referring to the notification that is present when the side panels are active? You can remove that by going into "Customise side panels" and setting "Show notification" to off. It says it's not recommended because Android will be much more likely to kill the service without the notification there, especially on low RAM devices.

On recent versions of Android you can disable notifications from the App info panel.

Bought! Love the slide out lists. Any way to configure it to show only what you want? Favourite apps and contacts? Etc.

    • Thanks rorymeister!

There are actually heaps of apps that have slide out draws (though they aren't as quick to open) where you can put a few of your favourite apps. Snype's drawcard is that you can just as easily access ALL your apps/contacts. Try it for a few days and you'll end up being able to get to any app/contact you want in less than 2 seconds.

  • is that possible to list the apps which used mosted often?

    • Yes, that's something I might include in a future update. :-)

I'm not sure how helpful it will be though since accessing apps is already so fast. I will try it out.
