Free: 1,000 Qantas Aquire Points Plus One Year Regus BusinessWorld Preferred Membership

50

Earn 1,000 Aquire Points in Qantas' new Aquire rewards scheme (it's a bit like 'frequent flyer' for businesses), which can then be converted into 1,000 Qantas frequent flyer points - and also get one year free membership in Regus' Businessworld Preferred scheme, which is good for five visits to any Regus Business Lounge worldwide. All you have to do is sign up for Aquire (which is also free) and register at Regus' promotion page.

I just cancelled my Qantas FF membership after the changes, I don't see the point anymore, unless you are a business traveller which now get a better deal for the higher airfares.
They just aren't good now for the everyday person collecting points as the Melb<>Syd route for example now provides 200 fewer points, but still takes the same number of points for as reward.

I'm still keeping mine since it is one of the better FF memberships which benefit flying overseas.

I earn 90% of my points from credit card purchases, so it makes no real difference to me whether they change it or not.

There is always some people happy and some unhappy. The change would have been welcomed by the people who always buys non red-deal fares, as it makes it more fair.

Imagine the tax system in Australia being 30% tax rate for all, you think the people at the lower end of the scale will be happy? …. This is the same thing but reversed for the changes in the Qantas FF program.

same thing but reversed for the changes in the Qantas FF program.

This is disingenuous. Nobody is arguing that the FF program is like the tax system. Further, there are plenty of flat rate levies (e.g. bank fees, parking fees) - therefore, there is no point comparing the FF system or recent changes to the taxation system.

Qantas' FF changes are representative of Qantas' creeping disregard for passengers. I'm a Gold FF, and at the beginning it made a difference (preferential seating, expedited queuing, etc). Since about October last year, though, it's felt no different from the base level. I do like Qantas, but I've got to the point where I'm looking at other airlines for my business.

    • With all the cheap fares available now from other carriers the QFF points seem even less valuable.

After receiving the letter a month ago telling us not to worry about our points I immediately started worrying. So I burnt all my points (~550K) a couple of weeks ago on flights to the States later this year and have decided to not really care for QFF any more. If it's for upgrades then it might still be a good option but I find that for taking the fam on cheap holidays it's lost most of its utility.

  • Anything stopping me from signing up with multiple fictitious family member names, and multiple Qantas/EverydayRewards memberships in the same names, then transferring all the points to the muncan Qantas FF account? Other than my day job?

    • Transfering points requires 7000+ points if i remember correctly.

      • 5000 points actually.

        From the QF site:

        How Family transfers work
        * minimum 5,000 to maximum 100,000 points per transfer
        * maximum four transfers in any 12 month period<li>

Well you'll need an ABN to register for Aquire to start off with.

    • Your conscience?

  • First year free or lifetime free for Qantas Aquire membership?

  • Qantas Acquire has an annual membership fee after the first year, so unless you actually want it, it's not exactly the worth the hassle for 1000 frequent flyer points… approx value $10.

  • It appears the points aren't credited until you visit a Regus lounge.
"You can also earn 1,000 bonus Aquire Points on your first use of your Preferred membership card."

Why cancel, you just dont use it, you never know when it might help. And also its the only way you can use purchases at Woolies.

Unless of course your union membership card requires cancelling it…

  • Can I use the regus lounges for free printing? Do they have color printers?

    • No, you have to pay for printing services.
