Etihad Oct/Nov 2025 One-Way from Sydney to Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Vienna, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona & More $456 @ Google Flights

1720

Etihad seem to be having very cheap one-way flights from Sydney to a whole bunch of European destinations at the moment (around $450), including Athens, Istanbul, Moscow, Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Vienna Copenhagen, Prague, Amsterdam and Warsaw. Availability on many dates throughout October and November 2025. Check on Google Flights for availability dates for your destination. Not sure if it's a pricing error, but I've checked the price shows up the same on Etihad's website as Google Flights.

Need to pay extra for checked baggage though - I think it was around $50 extra.

          So is America?

@MrZ: Greenland and Canada are begging for it

@MrZ: Venezuela, Syria and top secret

            • +8

@MrZ: Interestingly, since Trump came into office on January 20, the US has carried out 529 air attacks in 240 locations across the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.

That number is actually similar to what Joe Biden did over his 4 years as president. Just saying.

              • -2

@ialam99: @ialam99 - the vast majority of those air attacks were in Yemen. Biden (and the UK) was the one who started those attacks on Yemen. They were self-defence, in response to Yemeni attacks on ships in the Red Sea. What are you suggesting, that Trump should just let them continue attacking civilian ships??

          • -2

            @DMFD: No

        • +2

Can you point out a country that smart traveller says “ please go”? If you stay safe, you will be fine in any country. Talking from experience lol. I haven’t been to Syria yet so may be it’s an exception

            • +3

@MrZ: I talking about “don’t go” or “ please go “ only. USA is defo not safe lol, again depends on where you go and how safe you stay. Moscow is defo safer than any American cities

                • +11

@MrZ: Make sure you mark ‘not gay’ on your visa

                • +2

@MrZ: Why bring sexuality into this? By that logic, unless you have a bullet proof vest, you are not safe in USA.

                  • @unhuman: Show me some statistics on how many tourists are killed each year in the US.

                    • +3

@MrZ: Show me statistics about tourist in Russia? Moscow is safer than any cities in USA. Hehe

                      • -5

@unhuman: Safer than ANY city in the US? What are you basing that statement on? New York City is visited by millions and is considered very safe.

                        • +3

@MrZ: I have been to both Moscow and NYC. Anyone who thinks NYC is should try out subway at night. Considered is not generally facts.

                          • -2

@unhuman: I've been to numerous US cities - Honolulu, San Fran, LAX, Charlotte NC, all very safe. Never been to Russia and no desire to go. By the way, health care standard (hospitals, doctors etc) in the USA is better than Russia.

              • @unhuman: Aside from the bit where you’re visiting a violent, totalitarian country at war with its neighbours.

                • -1

@Chris17: I don’t understand why you think USA is better than Russia. Both countries kill people. You just wanna forgive what USA did in Afghanistan, Iraq etc but wanna go after Russia for Ukraine. They are both evil but Moscow is much safer than any USA cities.

Smart traveler is an advisory website, not a law. Obviously do not travel if you don’t know what to expect. Do travel if you absolutely have to. The choice is yours.
I agree with the madman sentiment, though.

          • @Azro:

Smart traveler is an advisory website, not a law

Well, if you go against the "advice" on the website, your Insurance company might say that you were going against government advice, etc. ..if/when a time comes to seek insurance support.

There're also theories about consular support, if you get stuck in places, where the website does not encourage you to go there.

        • -5

lol Putin a madman? Ever watched his press conference and interviews apart from western propaganda videos? He is a very well spoken and rational man who always speaks with so much clarity and eloquence. Now compare that to trump. What would you call Trump then ?

          • +1

@ninohax: lol, don't judge a person based on what they say, but on their actions. I bet you think Alexander Lukashenko's a great leader too. unhuman will probably tell me next about how great Minsk is to visit.

            • -1

@MrZ: You are arguing with a bunch of "aussie cossacks". Let them be.

          • +3

@ninohax: So invading and committing genocide against a neighbouring country is rational?

Hitler could be pretty eloquent, too, from what I hear.

            • +1

@Chris17: well put yourself in his shoes. If you were the leader of Russia what would you do if you are being surrounded by enemy nations from every corner be it land or sea? Will you just stay put and do nothing? I am totally against any sort of war or any form of violence and do condemn it but there is always another perspective to things. It is not always black and white. Ukraine could have easily prevented this by giving an assurance to Russia they won't join the EU and NATO. Also its not a genocide, genocide is when the victims have no means to defend themselves and Ukraine is far from that. They are heavily funded by US and European countries.

          Smartraveller says

          And there's your problem.
Imagine what people used to do before the Gov and Media taught them all how to be afraid of everything…

As an example 'smart' traveller always has a high risk rating on Bali and Thailand and those places are safer than most Australian large cities. Millions of Aussie go there every there without issue, but be afraid!
As someone who has travelled a fair bit, I find smart traveller warnings a joke.

    • +31

I wasn't suggesting you/anyone else goes there. Just listing all the destinations that showed up for a cheap price on Google Flights.

what's wrong with travelling to Moscow?

      • +4

        Maybe they prefer St Petersburg?

      • +3

In November it would be freezing cold in Moscow.

        • +1

That means the holiday ice-creams would be cheap. Winning!

      • Read the Smart Traveller website.

TBF it's kinda like travelling to Berlin at the end of 1939 - helps to stop and think before you book that flight

    • +2

Iraq is becoming a tourist destination, deservedly so for a culturally / geographically rich country and a people who have suffered for decades.

  • +5

Great prices, but the real question is how much to return (assuming you want/need to).

With return prices around $1200 on some full service carriers, the return would need to be around $600-700. Otherwise there's always Scoot :)

    • Return on scoot then

    • +2

Don't forget points, much easier finding a one way flight back than a return on the dates you want.

  • +37

Just remember, book through Etihad Airways directly and add in a FREE 2 day stopover in Abu Dhabi

Make sure you UPGRADE to VALUE ECONOMY from BASIC ECONOMY to ensure you get free standard seat selection and checked in baggage

    • +3

Is anybody able to find the free 2 day stopover with a massive price increase? I'm seeing the $450 flights but when I add a stopover the cheapest flights become $850.

  • +1

Dont you need to fingerprint now?

    • +4

Under the new EU Entry and Exit System (EES), you must register upon arrival into any EU port thats participating in the EES scheme (most EU countries, notably not Ireland as its apart of the CTA with the UK)

Upon arrival, you must present to an automated kiosk which will collect information such as your fingerprints and a image of your face. You will then report to an Immigration Officer to be subject to preliminary screening involving questions and the production of associated documentation where requested.

EES registration lasts for 36 months, you will only have your photo taken on subsequent entries by Border Force Personnel or through the 'Self Service' (E-Gates equivalent) to verify against the existing database.

This in addition to the EITAS which is the new Visa Waver Program, which will also last for 36 months upon registration.

All of this is imaging the United States ESTA and Border Control policies. However EU EES will be less invasive on subsequent entries.

      • -1

What happens if you burn your fingertips before travelling. Even australia dont have mine.

        • +4

You will have to present reasoning as to why your fingertips have been burned. If you have gone through some forms of cancer chemo therapies where your fingertips have been removed through HFS, you must supply EU officials with relevant information and documentation before being allowed to proceed.

You will most likely be unable to use the self service kiosks and must present to an EU official for manual verification.

    • In Abu Dhabi they have retina scans. The new Airport is amazing architecturally.

How do you get home again to keep it affordable? Asylum Seeker boat?

    • Not from Europe you wouldn’t

    • Maybe Rupert Murdoch will fly you back in on his private jet.

Book reward seat with points :D

  • I chucked in a few dates departing from SYD to a few of these cities and the prices were like $900+

    • +2

This is what I see for Athens in October/November: https://imgur.com/a/ILAKLJT

      • +2

Ah yes. So it's about $450 depart but around $700+ return from most cities.

        • +4

          700 return is incredible??

        • +1

Any samples for $700 return? Don't see any.

          • @Cheehoo: I think they mean $700 for just the return ticket. So ~$1150 total for both legs.

            • @snep:

              ~$1150 total for both legs

That's still a good price, after the years of very high prices post-Covid

              • +1

@whyisave: Yeah its not bad. The return legs I was seeing for ~$700 were mostly scoot, which isn't ideal, but I suppose half the trip on full service is better than none.

  • +1

Cheap one way ticket to Dubai if you exit there.

    • +1

Well add the bus fare then I guess

Be careful that you don't book a Wamos operated flight - it won't be the true Etihad experience otherwise. Avoid "Plane and crew by Wamos Air for Etihad Airways" (unless you are a true ozb'er and want the dirt cheapest point A to point B).

  • +3

$383 to Munich and $277 to Abu Dhabi, but htf do I get back?

  • +1

Avoid their 787 Dreamliners. Old, dated, squeaky, uncomfortable aircrafts.

    • +1

Then pay full price for emirates or qatar 🤣

  • Most of those European cities are not very tourist friendly.

    • +2

From that list, Amsterdam, Copenhagen & Vienna are quite tourist-friendly.

In Spain, locals are kind of upset at tourists because of AirBNB rentals.

Then again, the AUD is so weak against the €uro currency, that everything will feel expensive now.

      • Prepare to pay a lot for pretty much everything in Copenhagen though, incredibly expensive.

  • SYD > LHR on Nov 13th too, not many dates for that route but given the LHR airport tax that’s really good

Can’t see many other dates for London

Edit: Sichuan Airlines has $535 Rome to Sydney on various dates, but only through travel agents because it’s a 40 hour layover. Can’t find many other return options, it’s mainly just Rome.

Various on Chinese airlines for ~$750 from Madrid

Some ~$750 options from LHR, ie air china on dec 3

Lots of return options around $700 from Amsterdam

    Rome Nov 6 - 19 $1375 Etihad only ticket

    • Rome various dates $1380 return Etihad only

      • +1

Some budget return flights available (with luggage):
