  • It doesn't say it works on the website specs but I have the K400 and works perfectly with my Macbook.

I have the black version of this keyboard for my HTPC.
I HATE the right shift key. They've put the up arrow in between the ? and the Shift key.
Have a look at product images before buying to see if this will drive you nuts…

Who uses the right shift key? ;)

      • Cheapest price I've seen on the white model.

If you touch typed your reply you would have just used it twice :P

I bought the black version from TGG for $42 around 2 weeks back.

Really handy having the little touchpad in the corner. Unifying receiver means any compatible Logitech device can connect to the receiver also (up to 7 devices) which means I can simply connect my full size Logitech mouse from time to time as well.

Only improvement would be to have dimmable backlit keys for night use.

    • I didnt know you can do that. Does it pick up other devices automatically when they are within range?

      • Yep. You install the Unifying software which takes 30 seconds and doesn't leave any icon in the taskbar. Then you can use your unifying-compatible devices at any time whenever they're in range.

I switch my devices off when not in use to conserve battery and they work instantly as soon as I switch them back on.

        • Ok seems like the trick is the unifying software. If you just plug it in without installing the software the mouse still works, but it won't unify with other devices? Would that be correct?

        • Yes. I plugged in the Unifying Receiver, switched on the K400R and it worked immediately. Switched on my Logitech mouse that didn't work initially - switched it off. Installed the Unifying software then switched mouse back on - both K400R and mouse working fine.

Logitech "Unifying" technology basically performs the same function as Bluetooth (connecting several devices at once) however one advantage I found with Unifying is you can use the keyboard 'Power' button to put your laptop/desktop into sleep mode AND power it back on (could be related to 'always-On USB')? I don't think you can power on when the machine is in sleep mode using a Bluetooth device.

  • Does anyone know the actual receiving range of this keyboard? I am expecting more than 3 meters since it's designed for HTPC. (spec. says 10 meters)

    • I occasionally get issues if there's a bunch of big metal electronic things in the way, but for HTPC stuff it's fine, 3M should be perfect.

  • [dup]

  • I think I'm still using the original batteries from when I first bought it 2 years ago. Solid keyboard, great for TV use.

  • Keep in mind that the touch pad is too sensitive, when you try to move the cursor you will end up selecting whatever at the cursor position….other than that it's a fantastic keyboard…

  • Bah, just bought this today for $45 from MSY.

  • Got one, thanks OP

  • I have the black one.

Any body know how to make the horizontal scroll work?

I had it thicked in the set up but it does not work.

    The vertical scroll work though

    • use two fingers

  • Just got one from Capalaba OW. They have a few more and they are definitely K400r models for $36.75. They have the black one as well, but it scans at $45
