They're also giving away a Xbox One Titanfall bundle, which I want for myself :)

  • i grabbed a 1tb block of these guys back in november and still have over 500Gb remaining.

service has been awesome and am definitively considering adding another 2tb

    • I just logged into my account and it doesn’t show how much I have left. Odd, I now SABnzb shows what is remaining for it though.
This is the 3rd time in 5 months this 2TB offer has come up that I know of. I use this as my main, and a 1TB Astra block for back up, as they retain more.

Edit: it finally updated – “You have used 348.8 GB of the 2200 GB allowed.” Guess I need to buy this deal again.

Edit 2: I am an idiot, and was in such a rush I read that as remaining, not used data. I didn’t need another 2TB, oh well, got it now.

  • Wait…this is not the same newsgroup who took my dollar, right?

May I ask what is usenet? I tried to wiki it but still don't understand. Can I use it as storage?

    • Basically, it's a faster, more secure way of being a pirate.

  • You don't even have to make a purchase (though it is a great deal) to have an entry to win Xbone.

"…Xbox One Giveaway: No purchase necessary to enter. You can enter for free by emailing your name, email address, and mailing address to [email protected]. Please use the subject “Giveaway Entry”. Microsoft and EA are not sponsors in this promotion. Winner will be notified by email within 7 days of the end of promotion and will receive prize within 2 weeks of notification."

  • I have had this since 2012 but have not used it as there are no good trackers or you need an invite to a good tracker. I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong or to be PM an invite if I am right.

There are plenty of good ones, but yes most are closed and require invites. If you keep an eye on Reddit – r/usenets then you will see when some are open of rego. I recently posted there when nMatrix were open for 300 regos (closed now). Try https://www.oznzb.com/ they are an Aus based one that are pretty good, but cost more than others. Also see if you can register with https://nzbgeek.info/.
The thing is to always have more than one indexer in case they shut. I current use NZB.su as my main, with nMatrix as a paid backup, and OZnzb as another backup, that I have not paid for. Once you go usenet, you just shake your head at other options.

      • I dunno about shaking head at other options, while I have usenet I find I mostly use private torrent tracker and my seedbox from seed.st - it's only $6/month for 100gb and it uploads at like 5MB/s which I don't have to tell you is miles better than Australian net, it's easy to get 1TB buffer in just a month of using it then cancel your account and just leech torrents until your ratio is low and then rent it again for a month.

        • I don’t know what you just said. But I won’t touch torrents again. Okay not true, I do still have to every now and then, but I hate it, it is too slow. It is my back up only.

Reading your post again, I might have a look at seedbox.

        • seedbox is a computer you rent an account on (accessed through a webui) that you can download torrents using their crazy fast overseas connections and then you just download it from your seedbox over FTP so it's a lot faster than torrenting it yourself and plus seeding is insanely quick overseas so you can keep ratio up on the private trackers. Torrents are only slow if you use public trackers, on private trackers heaps of people use seedboxes so you get some insane speeds.

        • Sounds interesting, but I am happy with usenet at this stage and don’t need more setup headaches at this stage. Still struggling getting NZBget set up on my Synology. Sab is fine, but I do like certains things about get more.

  • Dammit. Too slow. Anyone know how often I can expect to see block prices as above?

Might just buy another block from AstraWeb if it's not too often. Their prices are pretty shit when not on sale (ie double AstraWeb's regular TB block price)
