Just had this delivered to my inbox. I already have an alarm but looks like a good bargain. Delivery was $10 when I put it in cart and entered my postcode.

The Swann Home Wireless alarm system is an easy to install security protection package. Kit contains Touchpad, Alarm PIR sensors x 2, Window Door Sensors x 2, Intrusion Siren, remotes x 2 & Deterrent Stickers x 8.
Deterrence is the best defense
By positioning the 8 Window Stickers in visible locations around your property you send a strong message to potential burglars & greatly decrease the chances of being broken into

A couple of years ago it was $78.85 New. The RR price of $159 is way overpriced. But for $35 delivered and refurbished I guess it is still an Ok price.

    • You are correct. For $35 it in a very cheap way to reduce you house and contents insurance!

      Stolen?

  • Assumption is that the burglar can read the message on stickers. Once a manager of a fencing and security door company told me that the burglars even know all the laws relevant to them similar to lawyers. :) So they always avoid the means of breaking in which can result in a bigger punishment. But they still achieve the same thing at the end.

I bought one of these from Swan for $58 and really can not stress enough this is basic.
The unit can be disabled by simply pulling out the plug or unplugging the speaker. There is no delay in triggering the alarm so it triggers as soon as you open the door….you have to put up with the siren until you can disarm it.
However, it was easy to set up and install and could be removed without damaging the property.
Really this is more of a deterrent for nervous burglars who will run at the 1st sign of an alarm.
Still, what do you really expect for the price.

If you plan on buying, check Bunnings - they don't list them on their website, but I picked a couple up a while back for around $70 - also if you don't mind a refurb, swannstore.com.au have them for $58.

    Couple of things to note:
There is no backup battery - but also if the alarm system is accessible, you can just unplug the power and it will shut it up - also the siren just plugs in with an audio lead, so this could also be unplugged. Also, there is only an internal siren (albeit a bloody loud one), there is no external siren/strobe light, and it doesn't look like it would be easy to add one.

It's an ok basic DIY alarm, but I'm looking to replace mine when I can.

    • I have one set up at the moment, another in the box still.
Plan is to have one control unit in the garage and one in the house, both using the same 4 remotes so they arm and disarm together. An audio Y connector will run 2 sirens but i plan to use 1 side to run a relay to run a 12v siren - same could be trivially done for a strobe. Running 2 panels in separate buildings removed the unplugging vulnerability, and hiding the unit minimises it.
There is also a lot of gear you can get to make it LOOK like you have a lot more. You will never have perfect security - but all you need is enough to make next door look more inviting than your house ;) lmao
