Vinomofo 2011 Shiraz for $72 Delivered ($47 for Referred Customers)

160

Vinomofo just released a heap of Black Market deals (well worth checking out). This one is the highlight though.

Based on the description it should be the Schild Estate Shiraz (http://schildestate.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/2011-B…) which retails for around $20 a bottle. People who have received this wine from Vinomofo in the past have raved.

Get on it before it expires yet again. Please feel free to use my referral in thanks for posting this deal, or a random referral. To do this click on Gav (for my referral) or random in the grey box below. You'll get $25 credit for doing so as a new customer, and I or the random referrer will also get $25 credit.

  • where do they keep getting more from??

I don't think they are doing this again. haha

    • I was wondering the same. That said, the one I got from the 30th of March offer drinks very nicely. And in the end it is all about taste :-)

      • I also received the 30th of March offer, the 1 bottle of schild estate shiraz that I have drunk was extremely nice. didn't have the usual dryness of shiraz. extremely pleasant. tempted to buy again but trying to cut down on the booze. and still have 3 cases unopened as well.

        • yeah, 2011 was a difficult year for Barossa, which led to a lot of Shirazs (OT: how do you pluralise that word?) developing different profiles than usual.

        • +1

lol, I had to look that up! It's shirazes.

        • Thanks, still looks funny though.

    • Most people rave about this wine, but I think it's got too much tannin and tastes acidic to my liking. Yellow Tail tastes a lot better. My advice is let it aerate for a couple of hours before you drink. For $47 maybe you can still call it a bargain.

      • Good advice mate, the 2011 Cab Sav from the same vineyard was far better in my opinion less acid and smooth on the pallet just enough tannin with fruit coming through. Too bad they don't have it listed in the b'day sale.

      • I find that Yellowtail is overly sweet and lacks tannin for a shiraz, so I guess it really depends on personal preference.

Being a 2011 vintage, it's definitely worth letting it breath a bit.

        • Yellow tail has got the sweetness right to me. You can taste the black berries straight out of bottle. It's easy on the pallet. I do agree with you it all depends on personal taste, though

    • Why not if it's legal to do so under Australian law?
It is MoFo Vino, afterall! ;-)

      • It's a grey area. If the wine is of comparative quality then it's legal. If you are topping it up with rubbish then it isn't.

Just ordered and there was free shipping also. With referral total came to $47 delivered. Cheers!

    • might be a noob question - may i know where to get the referral link? thanks!

edit: sorted. please ignore my question. cheers.

      • I changed the text in the deal to hopefully make it a little clearer!

  • Thanks OP! Hope it is the Schild because I ordered that last time and am enjoying! Confirm free shipping for me too.

  • Is there somewhere the rest of us can post our referral links?

    • It's in your user settings - referral section

Got mine, and agree with xiangtan. Nice flavour but very tart (acidic) for my taste.
My wife, who also enjoys fruit that is way too sour for me, loved this wine.

No worries, will still go great with dinner, but a warning for my fellow acidaphobes.

What a good way to lower the pH of wine? Bicarb? I cannot imagine adding sugar to a shiraz will help :)

    • Lemon juice or vinegar would be good to lower the PH. Bicarb might raise it. ;)

      • Yeah, you don't want to lower the pH, that will make it more acidic! ;)

Try decanting and letting the wine breath for an hour or two and then retaste. Make sure you don't have it when eating something sweet.

      • Damn, my high-school chemistry teacher would not be pleased. :(
Google says to use potassium carbonate, not sodium.

  • Good deal. The OP will be able to throw a street festival with all the credit coming his way.

  • Hi, may I know how does the referral credit works? I have just signed up using one of the random referral links above but have not received any credit (does it come in email or automatically added to the account)?

You'll see it when you go to pay.

    • +1

You get the credit attached to your first order :)

  • I ordered now already 2 times … was both times not disappointed. Can recommend this wine.
Mhhh … order another one ??? Just because it's cheap. 24 bottles will last a bit …

I used my referral credit already up so it's a bit more expensive now. Have put my name and link in the wiki … lets see … :-)

    • Open a new login to get another $25, maybe refer yourself?

      • +2

Well, that would be cheating. But perhaps the significant other or a relative needs some as well?

  • +1

Ahhh, I gave in… don't need any more wine (I seem to be the only person in the house drinking it), but I couldn't resist! :\

    • +1

It can cellar for several years yet, if needed.
