        • +3

why is everyone giving them negatives if they are happy?

        • +3

I bought MELBOURNE(Tullamarine) TO Perth / Cairns for $9 last year. $36 for 2 return trips

        • +2

I bought Jetstar $9 tickets a few times last year. That was when tiger was having $9 sale and rang Jetstar for price beat. We haven't seen tiger $9 for so long after it has been acquired by Virgin.

      TO EXPRESS HAPINESS

      • you mean happiness*? ;)

        • Do a Google image search on "HAPINESS", and be amazed at how many people make internet meme's with the wrong spelling :).

Maybe ignorance IS bliss, but at least they are happy ;).

And yet the cost of public transport to/from the airport and the city centre is still more than double the cost of these flights.

Shows what a rabble our state governments have been.

    • +1

To be fair, a one way bus/train ticket doesn't get bumped up to over $200 on busier days like these flights do. Different pricing model.

      • +3

Of course, the buses/trains don't cost double all flights, just these ones. Otherwise that would be insane :P

Was just commenting on the lack of viable cheaper options over the one-way $12.60 gate fee for Sydney and $22 bus from Avalon to Southern Cross.

However, for those not carrying much and willing to walk- it's a 1-1.5km walk from Mascot train station to the domestic terminal in Sydney (Mascot station does not incur the $12.60 gate fee).

No cheaper options for Avalon-City that I know of unfortunately.

        • +3

Sydney bus 400 can take you to Bondi Junction at normal bus price.

        • +1

…Or Rockdale station too, which in conjunction with the significantly shorter bus ride, will probably get you to the city even quicker :-)

(Rockdale is approx 20mins from Domestic, or 10mins from International, whilst Bondi is around an hour)

        • -1

Or Burwood station for inner-west Sydney.
Also, couldn't you walk across the farm to Southern Cross Station near Avalon?

        • +1

400 bus (Bondi-bound) to Mascot (about 5mins) then train to city is the quickest and cheapest option. Alight in Bourke Road (opposite the Qantas HQ) ie just after it veers left off O'Riordan St. Station is 2min walk in front of you, across Coward St. Map: http://goo.gl/maps/j9e3C

        • Agreed Peter, that option is probably the best option for Domestic if you don't mind a short walk - also less likely to be crowded during peak hour ;-)

KEYBOARD CAPS KEY IS OUT OF ORDER :)

As per the time of the flights it is way better for the people doing Avalon Syd Syd Avalon and not the reverse.

    • Either way you're going to have to book a return flight, so it evens out.

EDIT: Oh you mean because you can spend a weekend there.

  • +2

    Myspacebarwon'tworkeither!

  • I got the 100 $ credit from Tiger…so although this is an amazing price. u feel like its a ripoff :)

  • Sorry, what is in Avalon? we have to drive to Melbourne for 1hr?

    • Nothing!

    • Its about 45mins drive to Melbourne, which is double the trip from Tullamarine. However there are no tolls. Unlike Tulla, there is no myki-option public transport. So you're saving on the airfare but potentially spending more on transport to/from.

Posting this is pointless if you don't post how much it costs to get a shuttle bus from Avalon to Melbourne

    • +2

Same as all those pointless posts that don't post him much it costs for me to drive to the shop to pick the items up.

  • This is a bargain.

  • +1

    Caps Lock, MAX POWER!!!

  • No more $9 tickets on the 3rd June. Cheapest is $35

EDIT: like seriously…. "A Booking and Service Fee of $8.50 per passenger, per domestic flight" Why not include it in the price?!

    • +4

You can pay by BPAY or POLI to avoid it.

      • +1

You are a champion.. Thanks! Looks like the Mrs is getting a surprise trip away (with me)! ;)

        • … because she's not worth the extra $8.50 x 2?

  • -1

    Yasui!

    • Oops. Clicked neg by mistake. It is very yasui.

  • This one looks expired to me!

  • I saw it for $1 from jetstar many years ago

  • Couldn't you pricebeat expedia and get this flight for $8? Or does it have to be flying another airline for Jetstar to pricebeat?

  • Honeymoon sorted

    • Nice one…will you get the bus or walk the 1.5km? ;)

  • cray cray prices here.

  • Must have sold out as cheapest now $35. Would have been an amazing deal - thanks for the info.

    • Nah still valid. check again

      • +1

Thanks D6C1 - I just checked again and Melb to Syd flights are still available at $9 but not Syd to Melb. Still a good deal for one leg of a trip :)
