Just flew with Vietair. Theyre cheap for a reason. 7/10

    • Vietjet? Their delay is notorious with local Vietnamese so beware of that, granted if you can wait or don't have a transit/connecting flight right after then they're dirt cheap.

      • flight with them yesterday delayed for 1 hours, then 3 hours, then 4 hours and changed gated as well.

  • The booking I see is through a third party, and has to be booked as two seperate one-way tickets.
Just a heads-up for anyone thinking about it.
That said, if I didn't already have a trip planned for next month, I'd jump on this.

Be careful - these guys cram in 9 seats per row in a 3-3-3 layout, whereas other airlines put in 8 seats per row 2-4-2.

    • Yep, the seats felt super skinny and wasn’t comfortable at all.. Honestly i would probably fly with them again though because its just so cheap

    • +1

So same layout as AirAsia then.

      • In fact the A330s were procured from AirAsia X and they didn't even bother changing the seats and interior as the airlines have the same colour scheme

    • Didn't Qantas at one stage used to have an awful 3-5-3 layout on their 747s (back in 90s/early 2000s) or am I imagining things?

      • +1

Don't think the 747 is wide enough to accommodate that without making the seats impossibly narrow. At most it was probably 3-4-3

        • Ah ok, I guess I'm mistaken. But I do remember Qantas having more seats in the middle than I was used to flying on similar planes in the US.

          • @MrZ: Knowing Qantas, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried something like that.

Well it isn't that bad….. ANA which is a tier 1 airline uses the 3-3-3 layout also in some of their routes
      https://samchui.com/2023/10/13/which-airlines-offer-3-3-3-ec…

      • +3

Thats on their 777 which is a wider aircraft than the A330. The aircraft Vietjet fly are A330s.

On the 777, ANA has 9 seats per row (3-3-3) whereas almost every single other airline that flies a 777 configures them with 10 seats per row (3-4-3). ANA is an excellent airline because of this.

  • So if you were to book this, which OTA to actually book with?

Too many horrible reviews - generally book direct with the airline, but they're not even linked. Who have you successfully booked with?

    • i went to vietjet website and put in some of the dates shown and was given $379 as the fair so even if you book direct might be worth the extra $50

  • Flying domestic is okay. Got traumatised flying international them. Would pay extra for better airline experience for sure.

  • Let's fly Vietstar!!

  • Lol at all these people whinging. Cheaper to fly to Vietnam return that most of metropolitan Australia.

I've flown with them several times. Pay a bit extra to have seat flexibility and sit down the back. These planes are barely 60% full on outwards from Australia.

Had 2 seats next to myself by being tactical with where I was sitting.
