Dyson Vacuums 20% off at David Jones. Another 10% off from Masters

720

Just bought the last Dyson DC59 Animal from Masters Harrisdale WA which beats the DJ's price by 10%. My gift card also bring the price down by another 5% :). So happy to pay $467 with $99 bonus tool kit. Pretty good deal to me. $99 bonus tool kit can only be via redemption from Dyson. It is the mother's day promotion.

You can find the redemption form from the following link:

Don't get over excited about the $99 bonus kit. But they are a fantastic little unit

    • +2

Yeah. but it is freebie :)

  • +4

I found the attachments from the $99 kit (if the same from a few months ago) more useful than what came with the DC59 Animal.

Unless I'm missing something, if DJ's is selling it for $479.20 at the moment, wouldn't the 10% price beat from Masters come down to $431.20?

That would make it the lowest price of all time.

    • Nope, according to the OP's receipt, $479.20 is a beated price from Masters.

UPD: I was wrong, look comments below :)

    • +5

$479.20 is for the D59 Handstick without the Animal attachments.
$519.20 for D59 Animal Handstick. That's the one OP bought.

      • Thanks for pointing that out - I hadn't noticed that it was the Animal version.

        OP - that's a fantastic deal.

Dang…I paid $444.60 for the non-Animal version by price beating Appliance Central at Masters 3 days ago. Could have saved myself $13.32 by waiting for a few days.

    • -1

It's 10% of the price difference. Not additional 10% off the already 20% discount.

      • +2

no it ain't.. you're thinking of the Good Guys 120% price guarantee

  • Could you get your price match then go thru self service and quickly scan your 15% off pet15 promotion barcode? Or won't that work? Could be easier if you pick up a couple of other things to buy with it;)

    • Even it does not work, use the barcode without the price match still cheaper.

e.g. Dyson DC54 Allergy Barrel Vacuum Cleaner selling $719.2 in DJ. Price match will get 719.2*0.9 = 647.28.

Master is selling the same unit for $748.00. Using the barcode will get 15% off, which is 748*0.85=635.8.

If you can get it price matched and + 15% discount, it would be $647.28*0.85 = 550.188. (RRP is 899).

The pet15 barcode has a fine print: excludes appliance, commercial quantities and purchase of wish gift cards. So, vacuum cleaners are appliance ?

  • So…tempting.Is this the cheapest it's been?

    • Absolutely - I've been watching them for a while before pulling the trigger this earlier this week.

Unless you have a hairy pet, go for the non-Animal version and save yourself some $$.

      • It's been this before but not with the bonus kit.

When is this David Jones promotion ends ?

    • it actually ends today just noticed.

      • Missed. :(

How does the price matching procedure actually work?

Does one speak to the person in the relevant department and then they tell the staff at the checkout to do an overide?

Or do they issue a barcode to scan with the product?

    Or other?

Also, does anyone know if the competitor has to be within a certain distance of the masters store your visiting?

    • Just speak to someone in the department and then they will put it through on the register taking off the 10% or whatever.

Also they will match any legit Australian online store or actual store in most cases.

    • No different to the Officeworks price beat, really. Just tell the store rep that DJ is doing it at this price. It's worth having a printout, but they'll check on-line anyway to confirm and will beat it by 10%.

The location of the competitor doesn't matter, but if it's an on-line only price they'll also include the shipping in the total price before the price beat (same as Officeworks).

I wasn't sure what to expect but was quite pleased with the customer service at Masters.

I don't really rate the dc59 animal attachment, no real advantage over the standard powered head apart from it being littler . Was useful in the car but only vaguely.

  • Got one today from DJ's. Tried to price match at Myer to get Myer one points but they said their buy price was $512 and wouldn't do it. Didn't even think about Masters. Awesome deal for you :) I'm a bit confused tho because the website says 26 minutes of runtime but the box says 20 mins, 17 mins with the motorised head attached. Does anyone know if there are old/new models of the DC59 Animal?

  • DC59 is the new model.

    • 17 minutes runtime with the powered head.
    • 20 minutes with regular attachments
    • 26 minutes is false advertising

I think 17/20 minutes are continuous runtime ratings. If you do frequent stop/starts (which you will) it will probably be closer to 15 minutes.

    • I have the previous model, the DC44 Animal. It also has 20 minutes run time and 11 minutes on the max setting. This new model DC59 claims 50% more suction power with the same run times.

Signed up for an ozbargain account just to say - libai0915 - you're a champ! Been watching the dc59 animal for a while and sure glad I waited. Great deal, great buy!

    • Thx. Np. :)

  • OP when you said you received a further 5% off the price with the gift card, what card are you referring to and is this reflected in the price of the docket you posted?

    • Entertainment book owner can purchase wish gift card with 5% off. E.g. pay $95 for $100 card, $475 for $500 card and vice vera.

Wish gift cards can be used in Masters, dick smith, bws, woolies, woolies liquor, caltax…..

      • RACV members can also buy wish gift cards @ 5% off :-)

    • The RAC member receives 5% when buying wish gift cards. it can be used in masters, dicksmiths, woolworths, dan murphy etc. Quite handy. I always have these gift cards in hands in case if there is any promotion. :)

    • +1

Not reflected. I bought $500 gift card before so paid 475 for that card with 5% off.

      • thank you all. :)

  • Has anyone ever had any luck with buying an extension tube for the handheld model (Dc58 ect.) to turn them into a stick vacuum? Found it almost impossible to get them when I have looked in the past, some say most are compatible but other places claim that none will work with other models.

Can't bring myself to spend the extra ~$200 for what appears to just be a nice bit of tubing…

    • You're thinking about it wrong. Don't think of it as $200 extra for tubing. Think of it as $200 extra to not have to bend down all the time.

    • I thought the same thing and was hesitant to fork out a lot of money for a tube…

However, on closer inspection, the tube actually has 2 electrical terminal connections that also power the power head…

Says expired but deal still showing on David Jones website.

    • only some of the models and it is no longer 20% off :(

  • Masters didn't add the shipping charges onto this transaction,is this right? Will other Masters honour this price? So…confused.

    • The deal is over now. Masters won't honour anything. You can get just as good a price by going into Masters and using this deal to get 15% off.

      • but it's still $579 on DJ website?

        • +1

It was $519 yesterday when OP got pricematch.

I've got a Dyson vacuum. It sucks!

  • +1

The DC59 (and Animal) is a great little unit. Since buying it, we don't use our corded Dyson anymore…

Also, we has Masters price beat Eljo at $495…came done to $440.10…

    • Did Masters charge you the shipping fee on top?

      • +1

        Nope. As Eljo offered pickup.

  • +1

I'm a little upset I missed this one, have been waiting for it to go on sale! Next time then! If anyone sees a comparable deal, please let me know! (:

    • Just an afterthought, can you pricematch DJ $579 for the animal handstick, then use the 15% off voucher from Caltex? So it comes down to $442.95?

      • I don't think you can use the 15% off voucher as a vacuum (even the handstick variety) is considered an "appliance".

    • +2

If an expired post deserve a neg, there won't be any good deal at all.
All good things come to an end, you can't neg because you missed.

    • +2

Likes like OP posted this about an hour after purchasing. Do you expect people to post deals the moment they make their purchase? Bit harsh coming from someone with zero posts.

Just had Masters price match the DC54 Allergy from 2nds world advertised price of $699…bringing it down to $630

    • Nice one. I got it price matched at $741 down to $666. Then went back to match the above price. Initially, they refuse as $666 is lower then $699. But after I returned the DC54, they did the price match.

  • went to harvey today
they still price match for me DC59 animal

  • master so tight lol their price match policy wont include delivery charges even if the matching price was inclusive from other party.

  • Anyone who want to sell the bonus tool kit, PM me..
