Hitachi 70" Full HD 100Hz LED LCD TV $1499 DSE 2-3PM

60

I noticed this deal in the thumbnail supplied by theearth (Toshiba Canvio 2.5" 2TB $119). $1499 looks like the cheapest price ever posted on OzBargain.

One hour only special 2 to 3 PM, 16/4/2014. 50 units available. Link to Dick Smith product page, listed price $3999. I do not know if there will be a special web page come 2PM.

Note: No 3D, no Wi-Fi, no DLNA, no camera, dumb TV (not a Smart TV), USB PVR YES, 1-year warranty.

    70"

    wow, 1.8 metres !!!

    • To be exact, 1.77800 m diagonal, 1.54965 m width, 0.871728 m height, 1.35082 m² viewable area. http://www.displaywars.com/70-inch-16x9-vs-70-inch-16x9

6 sig fig used in unit conversion, but the additional precision may be meaningless if the quoted 70" is measured to 2 sig fig.

      • To be exact, 1.77800 m diagonal

If you measure it close enough to a Black Hole, it will stretch to 1.8 metres.

  • Anyone proud owner please comment on the built and picture quality etc? Thanks!

Hitachi is now a "sticker" that is placed on generic TVs… just like Akai, Teac, DSE, Toshiba, etc…
LOL… It is easier to name the products that are made by the company these days… LG, Sharp, Sony, S'sung, Hisense.

  • Saw one at a persons place and it was not real bright and when you turned the volume up half way the speakers vibrated badly so you would need a sound bar.. But had to admit it was huge and you could get excited by that much real estate lol

    • What ever happened to "normal" speakers?

      • they died with the CRT's

  • In the not too distant past, Hitachi was a very high quality stable brand in home electronics and appliances.

In about 2008, as I recall, they decided to leave the TV market in Australia to concentrate more on industrial appliances.

My 2006 Hitachi 37" TV is still a great performer given the technology of that era.

Am concerned by what xywolap says above. Hardly the Hitachi quality control of the 1970s to the early 2000s.

  • I remember when something like this was classified as a dupe as it was part of the same sale…. I still don't think it warrants it's own post as it just takes up space on the front page.
