Hard Disk Sentinel (HDSentinel) is a hard disk monitoring software with support of HDD/SSD drives. Its goal is to find, test, diagnose and repair hard disk drive problems, report and display SSD and HDD health, performance degradations and failures.

    I agree! Excellent SW. I paid for it when it was on special (but not free). Downloaded now for my dad's PC.

  Seems to be a pre-registered standalone version.

  Installs as version 4.4 - registered to "WindowsDeals.com"

  HOWEVER… Use file menu to update to v4.5 - which then drops it back to DEMO (30 days) version (unregistered)

  So, don't update it like I did.

    OK - Uninstalled v4.5 then reinstalled from the download, and it is registered again (as v4.4).

  Thanks for posting this - good timing for me, as a SSD apparently croaked yesterday. (OCZ vertex 3 so not surprising!) and this will be handy for confirming before I dig out my receipt and check if it is still under warranty.

  Chrome isn't too happy about this download, giving me a warning I haven't seen before on the download "hdsentinel_setup_windowsdeal.zip is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous."

  That and as people above said, its a pre reg version and if you update it drops back to trial, sounds like this isn't a legit deal. So I'll pass!

  Anyone actually got this program and for it to give you proper results?
  I used to have an Sep 2013 version on my laptop (got it free from BitsDuJour), my HDD was dying and had some bad sectors on it. Hard Disk Sentinel tells me that my HDD is still in good health…

  I bought the Pro version a few years ago. The developer has been really fast at adding new drives to the list as they are released, including RAID arrays etc that you normally can't see SMART data for.

  I don't regret it.

  Link at top of page by OP works, countdown shows this as free until about 1pm Friday. Thanks heaps, had this once before from bitsdujour but had to replace hdd (based on advice of this program!) then lost the app.
