Phone charging cable

One charging cable nowadays isn't enough as I need one for work and one for the car. Would it be a good idea to buy a cheapo one off eBay (the one's from China/HK that cost <$2) or should I invest in a Belkin/Cygnett/other reputable brands off the shelves of my local HN/Dick Smith/JB/Officeworks (will cost 5-10x more)?

The Belkin etc. brands are also made in China/HK but is the quality better?

  • are you talking lightning cables for iphone 5(s)?

    • Mainly referring to Android USB to microUSB cables.

      • ah, cheap ones should be fine in most cases then! Just don't go stupidly cheap (<$1)

If you can find sales on them in stores that is likely a safer option, doesn't really matter though, they are pretty standard cables!

      • Don't think the brand matters since I can't tell between cheap ones compared to OEM ones which came with phone/tablets.

However I've found that the thicker ones are unbeatable for fast charging. Something to do with a quick charge feature. The only one I have came with my LG G2. The $1 ones are shit in comparison.

  • The cables that have solid copper wires seem to be best, but I don't know how you determine whether the claims are true. Tikbro cables also seem to have a good reputation.
