    Thanks!

Man Overboard are one my favourite bands. Funnily enough, they got their name from a Blink 182 track.

there not actually on this album or in any way associated with this tho are they? only that song covered by "lions" who ive never heard of?

ill be sure and check out Man Overboard tho. thanks for the heads up :)

      • +1

Yep, I misread it. Edited my comment before anyone could see (or at least I thought!) ;)

        • yea, i had already replied to your original comment before you changed it, then edited mine with your full original comment so i didnt seem loony (did it work? ;) )

either way, ill still check out man overboard 2morrow, ive always been a blink fan

Very misleading post. It is not Blink-182 album.
    Should've stated:
I Guess This Is Growing Up (Volume 1)
    by Lions/Invalids/Tir Asleen/Dads/Slingshot Dakota/We'll Die Smiling
    All songs written by Blink-182.
Mod: Neg revoked, use the report button

    • So they're copying and making songs written by Blink 182?. I wonder if there's any royalty copyright violation happening there.

covering, not copying. huge difference. and it seems they are doing the right thing by not trying to claim the songs were there IP and simply covers of the original blink songs, so more power to them.

I don't understand how it is misleading from its title. It clearly says "Blink-182 Covers"

check the revisions, originally it was "FREE EP Album: Blink-182 'I Guess This is Growing Up'"

and it has been changed many times since

  • I downloaded all the originals off Napster back in the 90s anyway.

    • +1

      off Napster

are they keeping your metalica mp3's from the same era company? ;)

      • +1

Wow, lucky you… to be one the very first around to get on board Napster must've been awesome!!!

to be one the very first around to get on board Napster must've been awesome!!!

not quite sure what your getting at…. but i started "file sharing" back in teh days of copying c64 cassettes between friends in the early 80's when i was just a kid :)

        • +3

Soz, hit reply on yours rather than MrZ. Was stating that to have been on Napster in the 90s would make him one of the first in the world considering it didn't go live until late '99!

Ps. As for the C64: Likewise, had a pair of 1541s hooked up, then a 128 with 1571s later on, etc! And as for this new fandangled thing called the Web, I remember the old BBS Days!!! ;)

I remember the old BBS Days!!! ;)

hehe yea i used to work for a computer "store" here that had one of the first SA bbs's

Napster came out in June 1999. I don't see what your point is? My statement that I was using it in the 1990s is accurate.

        • +1

My apologies, I didn't realize that you were one of his friends from college!

        • +1

@snoop maybe cut him a break? specially if his memory of the 90's is anywhere near as fuzzy as mine is….

          long live edonkey… ;)

lol…… asking legetimate questions is not trolling~ reality is harsh to face but ur a better person if u can understand why that is rather then turn ur face and think everyone is out to get you~ you got courage/balls to post or do things right? U posted a deal then what ever you post or write, everyone will always critize it or ask questions about it, this is normal.

  • +4

    This isn't really a bargain.

  • +6

    Perhaps move to forum?

    • +2

It won't get moved because Mods usually take into account the votes.
A lot of the comments will probably get deleted though.

  • people are still covering Blink?

    • +4

Absolutely! Have you seen what people are like when a song like Dammit is played at the pub? No?… Me neither. Not for the last couple of years anyway! Kids tend to do that to your nightlife! ;)

      • +1

I've seen blink 182's big day out sets on foxtel, can't bring myself to hear someone cover them, though if you've ever heard Kate cebrano cover chasing cars , you'd be nervous about covers too!

        • +3

i have had this same argument with many people before. the difference is if the coverer "feels" the song they are covering rather than just trying to cover something to make a buck out of it.

its late and im getting tired…. but i guess my best example i can come up with on the spot is 2 fold…. the "wrong" sort of cover is all those xfactor s#!7 type things…. versus something like Jeff Buckley's cover of hallelujah (including that sigh at the beginning.. which has more importance than every "contestant" on every "talent" show ever made ;) )

        • +3

the difference is if the coverer "feels" the song they are covering

Absolutely… Which is why I get p'd that I have a $#!t singing voice!!! I have 10 times more connect with a lot of these songs than some kid with pretty hair making the big bucks covering them does!!!

        • hahaha amen Ramen brother :)

        • +1

Damn you. Until now I could honestly say that I was a devout atheist! Now I have doubt!!!

        • Happy Easter Snoop

        • Don't get me wrong. I try having some understanding for Christianity on a bi-annual basis. Normally this occurs around April and December!!! ;)

Happy Easter Snoop long weekend celebration of the birth of zombie jesus and excuse for BBQ, drunkenness and "retail holiday" handing out of chocolate eggs made by a rabbit :)

    • Heaps. There's that girl with the guitar in the Brisbane CBD that is always doing an acoustic version of "All the small things".

  • +5

I find this a bargain …. much better than seeing some of the spam I read on this site.

Nothing beats something that is free …. my 2 cents.

  • +6

How appropriate that the title of the album is 'I Guess This Is Growing Up'

    • +2

LoL… and there's some on here acting like they're 23!

  • +3

ITT: People are being childish, I for one think that even if not everyone appreciates this deal if the votes are there people must like it. Otherwise people will neg it/not vote for it and it goes away.

There's no point attacking the deal, criticising a title, fair game, asking for more info, fair game, but if you don't like the deal, leave it alone! It will fall off the front page.

Just enjoy what we have rather than nitpicking over little details. Chill, guys and girls.

  • Thanks TA- keep up the good work :-)

  • +6

Well my neg got removed and it says I should use the report button instead. I don't understand how reporting the deal would do anything considering it's been up for so long. The first neg has been up for a few hours so I deduce that the mods saw it and accepted it as a valid reason, I find it discriminatory they removed mine almost instantly after I did it, while the other one was allowed and had a similar reason. Some people on here are bi-polar and seem to accept or revoke negative votes at a flip of a switch or is this normal behaviour?

    • -1

Don't worry mate. My neg got removed as well. TA must have created a bunch of accounts to upvote or something.

Seems if you're a regular poster of 'bargains' here, you are immune to negs…

      • Nope. Put your tin foil hat away

Phreakency, Your comment for your negative votes was:

"LOL, who said either they go or I go?

        What an ego!"

An unpublished comment about the poster and nothing to do with the deal at all. No reason given at all.

        See voting guidelines.

Davo93, your comment was about a misleading title as this is a cover band and not the actual band. Per the voting guidelines, Incorrect Titles should be reported to a moderator so we can fix the title. The title was thus changed to include that it was a cover.

The moderators don't look at every negative vote. They are reported to us by users and then we investigate after the fact.

Let's stick to the facts here.

    • +2

My neg vote got revoked as well by the Mod.
The title has been changed slightly after my comment about it being misleading but it is still misleading. Should've said "by other artists" or something like that…
I believe many people gave this deal a + assuming they are getting Blink-182 album.

      • The title was changed by the OP to mention its a cover band. Have you got a suggestion for a further title change that makes it clearer?

  • +6

"Now, let's forget our troubles with a big bowl of strawberry ice-cream."

  • Thanks TA. Blink always rocked my socks back in the 90s, nice to have some fresh covers.

    If it's free it's for me :)

  • -1

    What's an "EP" ?

    • EP = extended play

'An extended play (EP) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is usually too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP.'

    • Don't tell me you're serious

  • +1

I'm angry because I thought Blink 182 had a new album when I read the title…

    • They will this year! Expect to be before a concert they are doing in August :)

  • +4

geez whats with all the negativity round these parts? I for one would not have known about this if it weren't posted here. I doubt I would have found it on the forums either.

Thank you TA for your post.

  • +2

Very nice to see blink-182 on the front page of OzBargain though!
    Family Reunion!

    • hahahah! YES!

  • I love blink, boy oh boy do I love blink. Saw them 5 times when they toured last year :)

But, I think this is setting a bad precedent, bands might just start spamming ozb with "free" albums/songs. Many upcoming bands/artists are giving their music away for free to just get noticed.

  • Let's keep comments to the deal and not the poster or other off-topic issues.
