siren which sounds if the lock is moved, touched or knocked

How do you unlock it without activating the siren ?

    • LOL yeah… Sounds like a massive PITA anytime you want to actually unlock it.

Also, if i very gingerly sneak up on it with some bolt cutters, can i completely disable it?

      • The padlock will give out a warning chirp the first time it detects motion so you have an opportunity to unlock it first. The main siren goes off if it detects a 2nd motion/shock.

      • If it is the same one our council is giving out it chirps without even doing anything to it. It is also useless cause it is way too big for all standard fence locks. Also a design feature I dont' like is that when unlocked is 2 parts.

  • Are batteries included ?

    What type ?

    • Yes batteries are included and it's 6 x LR44 (button cells)

Can you do a good deal on one of these ???

    • Yeah believe it or not, i'm actually looking for one of these on the cheap (Esp the silver one)

Very useful next to the bed… I'm looking too…

        • I wanna make one of these, but the only thing i couldn't get at bunnings is a power point with USB

        • I doubt that would be legal…

OK we'll see what can be done here.

  • I've got a little bike chain that has an alarm on it.. it takes about 10-15 secs for the alarm to kick in once it's knocked. Problem is it gets knocked while I'm putting the cover on the bike, and I'm worried it'll get knocked in the wind so I don't really use the alarm feature. Nice deterrent at least.

    50% off Padlock

How is it 50% off, it doesn't appear to have been on your website a week ago ???

    • Not sure if I understand this but yes it wasn't on our site last week or even yesterday.
As per the description we are expanding our range of security products and this is our way to kick things off.

So it's not 50% off then, it's your normal price

I suggest you update the title as it is a false and misleading claim under the law

        http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/misleading-claims-advertisi…

eg. a jewellery store advertises that a watch 'was' $200 and is 'now' $100 when the store never sold the watch for $200

        • +2

Actually jv it's not really fair to call it the "normal price" - it's clearly meant to be an introductory price ;-)

SmartLiving should describe it as such and then everything would be above board.

You will often see Coles or Woolworths use similar terminology, followed by words to the effect of
          "price after promotion $XX".

I think, like many people, the OP doesn't understand the distinction you are making :-)
(but the point you raise is a valid one jv)

          .

          By lying to us?

yea.. pretty sure thats not going to go down well with OzB'ers…

  • nevermind: clicked on link and read the blurb

Interesting. I bought an almost identical padlock at Bunnings for $20 (not on special) the other day. Uses the same style of keys and everything, and you have the audacity to charge $70 for it at a normal price (which is dubious in itself considering that it has never been offered on the site before)?

OzBargainers, I'd suggest you buy this at Bunnings instead of wasting your time with this so-called "deal".

      Two completely different things…
Firstly, the lock on here is a lot dearer.
Secondly, …….. No wait, can't see any other difference, it's just dearer! ;)
