I found the ad the Harvey Norman catalogue (Brisbane) but there's no information of how much each previous model is worth.

Also found the same ad online.

That $290 is going to be for the 64Gb 4G model iPad Air, guess what you can buy with the credit?

    A new iPad Air!

  • I wonder how much can I get for Ipad 1st gen 64GB wifi + 3G

    • 250

        no chance

I would say around $150 tops. I would be surprised if it's even that.

Be prepared to be bombarded with arguments over why they aren't even worth that much, but they are trying to do you a favour by taking it off your hands because at least they will sell you a new iPad air. You will probably be told it's been a slow day of sales for them, and usually they wouldn't even offer you this deal, but they need something on the books for the day. Just make sure their boss isn't around, because they will probably tell you that their boss will be mad at them for giving you such a good deal for such an old product.

Trade ins at companies like HN are for suckers and/or lazy people. If you want an iPad air, sell your existing ipad on gumtree, take that money and buy an air.

Edit: Forgot to mention, 78% chance they are going to give you the iPad air at below cost price too because of the trade in. You are such a lucky guy!

They might just knock 5 bux off a $100 monster branded line out cable too.

    • After doing some research, I found Mobile Monster to be the most generous among tech recyclers for my iPad (1st Gen Wi-Fi + 3G 32GB) — $130. Not bad for a well-used iPad that's been around for four years!

Entering your iPad specs they'll pay you $140 if it's in good condition. Not much separates the different memory specs, but the biggest jump is among generations, eg, the same specs but with iPad 2 will get you $250.

Unsure if you'll get much better on eBay or gumtree, but it doesn't hurt to put it there fixed price for a little while I guess. Just don't wait too long, its value will dive with every new gen released.

      • Unless HN can beat Mobile Monster's minimum of $100 for 1st gen 16GB wifi and so forth, this is not much of a deal

      • I sold that exact model (iPad 1st Gen Wi-Fi + 3G 32GB) on eBay 2 weeks back for $220 after fees.

      Keep wondering…

Havent read the details but almost positive it's just better to sell it on gumtree. Can get better prices even after ebay's fees.

    • I got $300 for my 1st gen 64gb wifi on eBay after the 4th generation iPad was released.

I guess lazy people may trade in.

There's no info on what the trade-in values are, which makes this deal a dud.

  • a working ipad or faulty ipad?
working conditions, how much wear and tear?

well, I have an old iPad 2 that won't charge (since 2 weeks ago).

$290 is pathetic for a latest top of the line ipad, even for a top of the line 3rd gen it is crap.
There is no deal here, and they dont have the best prices on the units either, so it is a double neg worthy 'deal'

    Great deal.
