    • No sorry this display is not IPS and no option for it.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to the team at Logical. Bought a Horize laptop from them almost 2 years ago now and it's still going strong. Had an issue with the display cable coming loose a couple weeks into the purchase but everything was dealt with quickly. Great customer service. I travel to and from NA, and upon request, they threw in the NA power cable as well, for free! (It's probably not terrible expensive to just get the cable part but was a nice touch nonetheless!)

So, big thumbs up from me and had I more money and less sense, I'd be eyeing one of those upcoming 13" models…

  • I was looking at getting the MSI GT60 or the Asus G750JS, they both are currently around $2100 but are obviously specced than the Horize, the i like the fact that the Horize can be customized & since the Samsung evo or crucial ssd's come up on sale often i could always get them & save a bit of cost when getting the laptop.

I'm completely new to laptops but would like to get back into gaming & do some photography, so would the Horize be the better optionif upgraded to the same specs as the MSI or the Asus laptop? Anybody know if i upgraded the ram or ssd/hdd on either of those laptops, would it void its warranty?

Great price OP, gives me another great option to consider.

Personally, i think the Clevo brand out performs just about all the other major laptop brand for the price. Unless you happen to get a asus or MSi at a great price, I think going for the Clevo with the specs you want is the best option

      • I read the review posted up above & the comment in it about the screen getting scratches easily is something i didnt like, plus the Asus & MSI laptop have better graphics card hence why they are still on my short list.

"MSI GT60 or the Asus G750JS, they both are currently around $2100 but"

          Vs $1300…

For $2100, you could get one of Clevos top of the range 15 models, the P150SM-A with an upgrade to the M290x, 2 hdds and gamut screen upgrades…'

Clevos are designed for you to be able to upgrade, swapping out a hdd or ram does not void warranty, as all you have to do is take you 2 screws lol, its not more difficult then a desktop. Ive had a clevo for a few years, havnt got a scratch on it yet

    • The Asus N series have a nice MacBook like finish but cost more than MSi.
MSi look at the GE model. MSi is good but tend to get noisy during heavy processing..not as we'll built as Asus.
Horizon has mSata which is great.

I say go for the cheaper option, laptops only last a couple of years anyways…

  • I think the fact we're not complaining about the price is a sign that Horize has good price-value ratio.

The issue with this product type is heat.

I've spent the last 2 years or so gaming exclusively on a Lenovo gaming laptop (bought at a crazily low price at the time) and I have to say the biggest limitation for gaming laptops is heat.

Even with good heat management design and efficient fans, heat is always a problem if you're gonna be at full load for longer than 30min.

Over the past 2 years I went from running Starcraft in Ultra at high fps and playing every pre-2013 shooter in medium, to not even being able to run League of Legends without the CPU shutting itself down after 10min of play. Somehow the heat issue had gotten permanently worse.

Not saying this will happen with the Clevo, though I myself am steering clear of gaming laptops in the foreseeable future.

    • Have you been cleaning your fans out?

been using a Clevo for gaming for the last 2 years, everything from league to Bf3, and ive never had any issues with overheating

Hell, if i put on the max fan button, the temp barely moves out of the 60 degree mark, which is the same as what my desktop runs at while gaming on ultra.

      • I cleaned it often. My issue was caused by silly heat management design from Lenovo. I had a decent cooling stand and that's why it lasted so long - the wear and tear from hot-to-the-touch heat (80 and over I guess) in a very small space has taken its toll on the hardware and it will never run anything on ultra or even medium again.

    • Agreed. Heat is the biggest issue.
Which is why gaming should be on desktop…

Are you guys ever going to have a sale on your non-gaming laptops?
The Ultranote looks like it has a nice screen, but $999 seems like a lot for only an i5, no dedicated graphics, only 128GB hard drive, no Windows, etc.

  • Good deal. When I'll decide to get rid of my stupid Dell 3560 that has mSATA connector missing (despite a manual showing it), I'll definitely look at one of deals like this.

  • hi jackkel ,
if i pre-order this laptop, would i have to wait another 15days when it arrives on the 19th?

    • +1

      Hi,

Give or take a few days yes that would be correct.

  • Hi Rep, does this have display port out? If not, could you please advise which of your FHD laptops have display port out.

    • No display port. Anything in the 'P' series of notebooks have display port. So P151SM1-A, P150SM-A, P170SM-A, P370SM-A.

  • very tempted to buy, but laptop weight kill it. I bring out often.

  • Hello Jackkel, whats your best price vs performance laptop with dual digital (HDMI and/or Display Port)outputs. I need to run 2 1080p TV's and VGA still gives ghosting in the highest res (1600*1200).

    • You will need to look at a beefier laptop to support those display output options. I think the best price vs performance of that type would be the P150SM-A model.

Is the 95% Gamut Matte Display upgrade worth the $69?

Will I even be able to notice the difference from the stock 72%?

    • In my opinion yes absolutely. The 95% display is very rich with colour. It's an excellent display.

  • hi, i noticed that there will be about 15 days of building time. just wonder if i order one on say 5th May would i receive it by the end of May as i will be overseas in June?

  • Yo jackkel, discount on the W550SU when?

  • Hey Jackkel… any chances that the HORIZE W740SU would go on a sale anytime soon?

    • Sorry I don't think this model will be on promotion yet.

So what does the gamut percentage actually mean in practical terms? Is there much difference between 72% and 95%?

Definitely looking at buying this but torn on the screen upgrade

    • Basically the colour gamut is the representation of colours. So the higher the gamut %, the more realistic and vibrant your display is. It will display colours that look bland on a normal display. The most noticeable ones are your colours like magenta, cyan. These look really realistic on a 95% display.

  • Has anyone received their yet?

    • I ordered on 8 May, just got an email earliest I will receive mine is end of the month.

    • +1

I ordered mine by April and I still haven't received yet.

      • Have you contacted LBO what the latest ETA is on your order, as yours appear to be one of the earliest orders? It's concerning for me if lead time is more than 2 months.

  • Will there be another offer for before End of Financial Year (June 30)? Cheers.

  • I ordered mine mid May and am yet to hear anything.

  • my son still hasn't got his after paying up front - cause for concern ?

    • Im still waiting, no cause for concern yet tho…

    • Very annoying, still waiting.

  • Same its over (30+ days) a month since I ordered and paid for mine, still waiting…

    • I sent them a message this morning and 2 hours later I got the message said my order had been shipped. So mate if you are still waiting, just try to send them a complain email.

What date did you order yours?

        • April 30th. BTW it looks ugly…and the power button is super lame, but I am happy with the other things. The other thing is after I installed everything, I found the 860m graphic card didn't be switched on in games. I tried a lot of version of drivers but it didn't help at all. Then I recovered the system and installed the NVIDIA forceware drive at very beginning and it was back to normal. If you are going to use windows 8.1 x64 like me, I suggest you to install the nvidia graphic card driver and test whether the 860m could be switched on in the game first. The other drivers are not very important.

        • Thanks for the reply, you purchased a bit before me then. I am going to go with windows 8.1. Whats super lame about the power button? What Nvidia driver version did you install and did you intall it straight after windows? Cheers

        • When I pressed the power button, I felt like I was pressing a plain plastic. There is no feedback for that button. I installed the ForceWare 332.60 which is come with the driver disk first. I tested it with some games and found it worked then I updated to ForceWare 337.88 WHQL.

        • I got mine too, however my power adapter doesn't seem to work (it doesn't charge the battery). Is there some special trick to this or have I just received a faulty power adapter?

        • Hey my power adapter works fine. No special tricks for that mate, you'd better contacted with Logicalblueone asap. Good luck!
