Best website for making simple websites without programming knowledge

I've got a few people chasing me up to make them a simple website. But I'm not a fan of making websites, I've made my own on bigcommerce and its just a pita in general.

These people are chasing a simple website (non store, no cart functionality) Just with basically a home page, info page of the services they offer and a contact page.

Whats the best website with the easiest WYSIWIG tools to get something like this up and running. I've heard of wordpress, is that one good? I'm looking for something cheap OR free.

Also domain names; I want to choose our own domain names, not have something like mystore.wordpress.com

I know how to purchase domains on godaddy. Is that the way to do it or are there cheaper options?

    Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal are all popular and free. They're all different, though - it depends on what you want to do. There are many more similar systems.

    Many hosting accounts come with all of those programs (and more) available for easy installation, and can cost as low as $1 or $2 a month (reps advertise all the time here), and a domain name will cost you maybe $10-20 a year, depending on what kind it is. The hosting company will usually be able to sell you domain names.

    If you're doing a few simple sites, and they're reasonably low traffic, you might be able to run them all on a single hosting account by using add-on domains, which will cut your costs even further. I guess it depends on whether you want to do the work then give it all to the people you're doing the work for, or whether you want to remain "in command".

      I might be wrong but I think there's a monthly charge for a hosted Wordpress site if you bring you own domain?

        Only if you host with Wordpress themselves. You can host a Wordpress site with anyone.
