  • Wow… supports Token Ring

  • Is it legal to run your own cable through your walls/roof?

      Yep. Terminate… not so much.

      • Wrong.

The real question is how do you know if it has been run legally or not. Last time I got a data cable guy in to install some points for work they didn't give me any type of certificate or compliance paperwork… just an invoice. So how can you prove or disprove that your home install wasn't professionally done. BTW I since had to crawl under the building at work to check a few other things out and saw what a crap job these so called professionals did… lets just say most of us here could do a better job.

        • Because he is legally required to issue you with a TCA1 form for any cabling work performed. Obviously they were cowboys who are not licenced to perform that work.

    • No, it's not.

    • It is actually perfectly legal to run your own cable, the only thing that is disallowed is a system that will be connected to the phone service.

This is a relic from the days where people would run their own dodgy phone drops that had the potential to impact Telstra's equipment.

Unfortunately it does mean that the ADSL modem is technically bridging your ethernet to the phone.

  • not a bad price from when I did my place, its really come down in three years…

I still prefer this one even though it doesn't come with any patch plugs:
