  • Have you tried to reinstall a program after the expiration time, as they normally need to be downloaded AND installed before the expiry time?

    • No, they wont work after the expiration.

      Been there, tried that!

      • Does installing it work if you change the system time and date back to the time that the email they send you with the "serial/activation" code?

        • I think they require you to "touch base" when you're trying to activate software.

This means you have to get an "OK" from their server before the deadline.

In the old days, simply fiddling with the system time often worked well, but these days they're a bit more cunning.

          • @Horizon: In Vista, go to C:\Users\YourAccountName\AppData\Local\Temp

Delete everything there, skipping anything that can't be deleted. Turn on "Show hidden files and folders". Now when you run the Setup.exe file look for the new .tmp file that is created in the folder. Copy it somewhere else, set it's property to unhidden and give it an .exe file extension. You can now use this file to install the program any time.

This works for 90% of the giveaways.

  • lol I have no idea if this is a good deal or not - but I am tempted to positive it just for the title :P

    • Hi Natt, usually anything genuinely worthwhile on http://www.giveawayoftheday.com is submitted fairly early on.

So it is a suprise this one hasn't already appeared.

You wrote: "I have no idea if this is a good deal or not…".
I often give 'FREE' the benefit of the doubt; and short of them paying you to use it, this freebie is a undeniably great deal!

  • Look at the comments. It installs spyware..

    • A search of Google brings up a mention of an executable named WO.exe which can be found in the WinUtilities program folder.

But none of the whole host of AV, spyware & adware programs I've tried so far seem to be particularly excited by this file, and none flag it as any sort of problem.

      So I'm buggered if I know…

  • It's not free, it's a free trial. You cannot reinstall the software.

    • It IS the full paid-for version of the program which you can run & use indefinitely for free; so it's not really just a trial.

However, if down the track you reformat your hard drive, or eventually buy a new machine you cannot re-install it.

If you read the comments underneath the product description you'll see many freeware programs mentioned which offer more or less the same functionality.

Besides this one now, I use Advanced System Care Pro which I also got for free from Giveawayoftheday.com so I'm a very happy camper.

Usually every few months one of these Utilities program is offered so if you're on the ball you always have them for free.
