Got this for $35 last month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141074#comment-1945874. Still sitting in the box.

    • Go get a copy of valkyria chronicles or something. There's heaps of fun to be had with one of these

    • What does "reason code 5" mean on the receipt?

      • +4

"Can't be bothered looking up buy price" .. lol

      • Manager special

      • On the computer, it's literally "Raincheck/Advertised", meaning the price hasn't been updated on the system yet.

    • +1

      you haggled, it doesn't count.

    • +1

Me too :-) I just showed that receipt and the guy put it through for $35

      Ah a true ozbargainer.

  • Just called a few local stores, either no stock or it's $129 :(

    • +1

Called my local store, had a $129 price tag but scanned for $59. Will try for $35 :-)

if you add CFW you can get your retro on with some old sckool emulation!

Things sure have come along way since those Liberty City Stories savegame exploits back in 2007. Didn't know you can now run homebrew on any PSP with v6.60 and all you have to do is copy 3 files to your Memory Stick.

Might dust off the old fat PSP-1000 and give it a shot.

    • +1

Yeah is pretty simple stuff these days

    • Is it still only using temporary firmware?

Did Sony give up the PSP CFW arms race? I remember them not making it easy, and fixing up exploits quickly after they were discovered.

      • +1

        Nope. Sony given up now.

        • WHOA, you serious? So you can use CFW that even lets you place ISOs without requiring some game UMD to exploit?

        • Yep. You just need to run a CFW file from a memory card and it'll run any iso's or emu's on there.

        • Hmm, this or android PSP emulator…

        • Why would you want to use a touch screen to emulate the controls of a PSP?

        • You can always use BT controllers.

But I was trying to say, buy a physical PSP or go the emu route & save $59?

        • Get PSP.

It won't look good on your smartphone/tablet due to difference in resolution and pixel density.

    • +1

Yeah, I remember when the Lumines exploit came out, people when crazy about it. It was so difficult to do CFW back then.

  • Apologies for the noob question but my search for exactly what cfw will do just returned installation guides. What I would like to know Is can I store downloaded movies and music on this and watch on the go. What's the codec support like and battery life for watching video?

    • Unsure if CFW allows you to play other video files but here is the official PSP codecs

Compatible codecs: Universal Media Disc Video: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile Level 3. Music: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile Level 3, Linear PCM, ATRAC3plus™ Memory Stick™. For details, refer to the User's Guide.

    There was a PSP Street?

    • All in the title :-)

    • +5

Yes, it's not far from PlayStation Boulevard, which runs off Sony Avenue, which leads directly to the bank.

  • No wifi and mono speaker fit for the street

    • Download PSN content via PC (Content Manager) and headphones which are really a must for portable gaming.

No online play but with the age of this device most of the services would dead soon anyway

  • Is the $129 really necessary? It's like a retailer hiking up the RRP prices.
I got this for $99 no special at K-mart last year

    • Im not sure what the RRP is but I know the RRP in US was $99 so $129 sounds about right.

  • There's not going to be a single one left at Indro, yeah? :-/

  • +1

Thanks OP. I grabbed the last one at North Lakes.

  • +2

Just saw 3 left in Indooroopilly about 10 minutes ago, I decided I didn't need it so I didn't buy it.

    • Yeah I was of the same feeling. Between the games building up on my VITA,PS3 and PS4 I couldnt justify something else that needs my attention.

    • +2

better revoke your ozbargain account mate

      • HAHA. It would save me money :)

I'm sure most of you have seen this by egoraptor about the PSP

This is a good deal. Definitely worth it if you are into retro gaming or just want a gaming powerhouse on the go with a good games library without handing over your wallet.

Here's a list of games that are worth picking up:

-God of War Chains of Olympus/Ghost of Sparta
    -Resistance Retribution
    -Killzone Liberation
    -Crisis Core: Final Fantasy
    -Pursuit Force 2
    -Persona 3
    -Ridge Racer 2
    -Monster Hunter series

    and some more uncommon beauties:
    -Valkyria Chronicles 1/2
    -Breath of Fire 3
    -Castlevania
    -Ys Series
    -Star Ocean 2
    -Riviera
    -Disgaea
    -Split Second

    Good Sports Games:

    -Tiger Woods Series
    -World Tour Soccer
    -FIFA
    -Pro Evolution Soccer
    -MLB Series

    Racing Games:
    -Split Second (as per above)
    -Race Driver/TOCA/V8 Supercars
-Gran Turismo (although not nearly as good as the console versions)
    -Juiced series
    -Need for Speed series

Valkyria 1 is on PS3. Persona 3 is also better on PS2.

This is a great system for playing PS1 games, and it emulates arcade and home consoles very nicely. It's a way underrated handheld.

I basically had every SMS, Gamegear, Genesis/Megadrive, NES, SNES, Atari Lynx, Gameboy, GBA, plus a bunch of CPS2 and CPS3 arcade ROMs out there and it was only taking up about 1GB on my memory stick. One device to rule them all. And it emulated them all flawlessly, except some SNES titles. Then I added my own PS1 games to it.

I look at how much a Lynx or Gamegear goes for on ebay, and ask myself, what's the point? I can play all their games on one device and do much more.

For anyone looking to buy memory for these it's much cheaper to get a Micro SD card and an adapter rather than buying an actual Memory Stick Pro Duo.

A 32GB Memory Stick Pro Duo is about $70 while a 32GB Micro SD and adapter will only set you back around $20-25.

I went for a dual adapter so I can add another Micro SD later if I need more space.

$1.62 from China or $4.49 locally.

32GB Micro SD can be bought for around $20.

    • Sony 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for $24.98 from DSE - would that be sufficient space for Emu-roms?

      • 4GB would do the job but that price is outrageous!

        EBay my friend!

        • I know, but want it this weekend :(

        • MSY is selling 16gb Micro SD. Ebay for $4> adapters. The wait is a few working days but when you get the adapters, it takes less than 10 minutes to do 'stuff' to the psp to allow it to play games

EDIT: 16gb for $12. Emulation is pretty stable for the old school games

  • Any PSP Streets left in Melbourne?
