  • I think Baw Baw is the closest hill to where I live and it is the only hill in Australia I've never skied. I'm lead to believe it is basically a small beginners hill good for 1st timers and snow play types. Anybody been there?

    • Skied there a bit, but in the past few years there has not been much snow. When there is snow it is a good intermediate mountain. But be warned there is not much there, just one shop and ski hire from memory (plus a few ski lodges)

    • Fairly accurate, though I've been boarding for 10 + years and still have fun at baw baw for day trips. I only live about an hour away though, and would get bored/ sore legs from riding the t bars all day if I spent any longer there. Midweek is great though, no queues and CHEAP!

    • All comments posted so far are accurate. It's quite a small resort and as such tends not to get too busy. Mid-week there was no queuing at the lifts so you could just keep going as long as your legs lasted.

The summit run is about 500m and is the longest. It's only steepish right at the top so even a good beginner can give it a go. Nice thing about the t-bar and poma is that you could get off at any point on the way.
Check the online map as it shows all the runs well.

I've only skied there so I can't comment on the terrain park for snow boarding.

I bought two of these last year and never used them due to little time and a very bad snow season for Baw Baw but the previous year was quite good for such a low mountain.

  • when's it gonna snow tho, cant wait ; D

  • There are no chair lifts. Only pommels and t bars. I had a horror shock when I was there about 10 yrs ago as a novice snowboarder. trial by fire (or snow) to learn how to ride the pommel.

Baw baw is located at around 1500m, as such, they do not get as much snow.
