Low cost Android phone

Hello

I am looking for a phone that cost around 100 bucks (or more but less than 150) that has 1GB of RAM. Is there any phone like that? Please suggest me! As I did some research, Huawei Y300 seems pretty good but it has only 512mb Ram.

Many thanks.

  • There is, the Telstra Frontier 4G has 1GB of RAM, with 4GB of internal NAND storage, but it's also locked to Telstra. You can use Bagman's unlocking services here. $18.

  • Check this one out Scrimmers:

Android 4.4 Otium S5 3G Smartphone MTK6582 Quad Core 1.3GHz 4GB ROM GPS OTG With 5.0 inch WVGA IPS Screen.

Currently on sale from http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_35999.html for $101.
NOTABLY, it only has 512MB RAM though.

This one has 1GB, and costs 115 smackers:

  • Another option is

    or

It's a 1:1 ratio Galaxy S5 clone so any S5 accessories (cases, etc) should also work with it.

  • What about this one Samsung S5 quad-core clone 1.3GHZ 2GB RAM 32GB ROM $125

    Review

    • Doesn't look too bad, but if you scroll to the bottom (under the pictures), it seems to be only 1GB of Ram, 4GB of rom, and 854*480 resolution screen.

      • Hmm.. the review says it is 1GB Ram and 4GB ROM also. The review also says that the display is clear but comments suggest the screen may not be what it says it is, neither is the camera. Some say battery is fine others say it is not but you just get a new one from Amazon, which they say works fine.

Lack of reviews on this thing though. Here is a more in depth one

I'm not even interested in a phone but hooked on reviews on these clones. I know it's over OPs budget but look at this one for $188 del.
          - Octa Core
          - 2GB RAM
          - 16GB ROM
          - Android 4.2
          - 5.1" IPS 1920x1080 screen
          - dual SIM
          - records in 720p
          - good battery life

          Good review here

  • Can we trust these brands guys? Since I would be willing to pay for longer lasting phone :-? Huawei seems to be the most trusty brand in China :-? I think the G526 would be perfect if the price goes down to 130 or less :(

    • I own a 'chinese' phone, and it hasn't broken yet. As long as you don't drop it on concrete, you should be fine.

A thing to note is the 3G frequency bands on most chinese phones (850/2100), which means 3G won't work very well with optus.

A chinese phone will offer best value but if you don't trust them, just keep looking on ozbargain for a special.

Lenovo is also another brand you should look into. They recently acquired Motorola from Google., however Lenovo has been making phones for quite some time now. I had one and thought the build quality to be on-par with Huawei's.

      Try Lenovo A820

      specs
      MTK6589 quadcore SOC
      1GB RAM 4GB NAND
      4.5 inch, 960 x 540
      WCDMA 900/2100MHz
      Back camera: 8.0MP
      Price- $155 USD.

Most of their phones operate on the 900/2100mhz 3g band, whereas most of the Huawei's are on the 850mhz band.

You might also want to check out the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, the specifications are better than the Lenovo's
      Snapdragon 400 Qualcomm Quad core
      1GB RAM 8GB NAND
      4.7 inch 1280 × 720 IPS display
      WCDMA 900/2100
Back Camera 8mpx, front camera 1.6mpx
      price $159

      • "whereas most of the Huawei's are on the 850mhz band." ??

        Huawei G526-L22:

        LTE: B3/B7

        UMTS: 850/900/2100MHz

        GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz

    • Dick Smith had the G526 for half-price ($99) several months ago.

You might get lucky. Maybe not that lucky, but you never know.

    • One very lucky OP, if he gets in quick. There'll be lots of brodenesque ebay reselling going on after that sale, I reckon.

  • Bad luck for me, I went to buy and its out of stock, however I may get xperia M with 25$ unlock code. Actually I buy this for a missy haha
