Coles Mastercard $75 off 1 shop not honoured

I applied & was approved for a Coles Mastercard when this deal was running back in early April 2014. I received my Coles Mastercard with the flybuys rolled in. Rang today to find out exactly how to get the mythical $75 voucher only to be told that because I wasn't an existing flybuy card holder at the time of application I didn't qualify for the now truly mythical $75 voucher. I pointed out to the call centre person that my Coles Mastercard was sent to me with flybuys rolled in to it meaning at some stage I had to have filled out details to get the flybuys. Can't go back to the webpage offer as it no longer exists. Apart from complaining to Victorian Consumer Affairs & ACCC any other ideas?

Call to cancel your card and they'll probably give you a $75 voucher to stay.

  • Yeah, I purchased their Coles Homeowner insurance and paid for it with my Coles MasterCard, to get my bonus FlyBuy points for Coles Group purchases, but did NOT get the points. Upon further enquiry, I was told that Coles Insurance was not an approved merchant to qualify for those fly buy points! If instead I had paid with my ordinary credit card, then my bank would have paid me points that were more valuable anyway!

  • Just call and state that light of not receiving the advertised promotion on sign up that you have lost faith in the product and would like to cancel the card. However pending the fulfilment of the agreed terms would restore your faith in "doing the right thing" and u would stay. FYI you are not getting jack from them.

Credit card (and banks) call centers are useless when dealing with complains. Send a letter to the 'GE Customer Resolutions Team' http://www.colescreditcards.com.au/contact-us and tell them, politely, if it's not resolved in 14 days, you will take the matter to the Ombudsman & Consumer Affairs.
    Good luck.

    • Thanks NancyCat for your suggestion. Have rang GE Customer Resolutions Team, spoke to a very nice young lady & was told the Coles Mastercard expert would ring me next week to help resolve my issue. Fingers crossed for a good outcome. BTW thanks to everyone who offered suggestions.

  • It was in the original thread

The link was targeted to certain flybuys customers as per CS team
I was told that if you didnt get an email, you wont get the voucher

But i got the nice lady on the phone to put in the notes that im eligible

    and

Approved applicants with a flybuys account will be sent a $75 Off voucher within 6 weeks of opening a new account. The flybuys barcode must be scanned at the time of presenting the voucher.

However looking at the thread, their customer service seems to be offering credits. I would maybe chat with them again, push for a manager otherwise threaten to cancel the card. EasternCulture has a screenshot of the T&C.

    Just called them and complained.
They try saying I got credited 10,000 flybuys points instead.

Insisted that I didn't get $75, so after a long time on hold.
Came back offering either $75 voucher or $75 credit to my account.

  • i called ge at first and they said i needed to call flybuys. I called them repeatedly and they eventually sent me the $75 voucher

  • Mine came with my COles Mastercard

  • Called up on Friday and spoke to a guy called Chris (indian sounding btw). Told him my problem and went away to his manager and came back saying I wasnt eligible because I didnt get an email saying I could, even though they were advertising it on their home website.
Tried again on Sunday with a guy called called Mark (also Indian sounding) and also went away. Came back with good news saying the manager has approved my account to be credited $75 instead of receiving a voucher. Asked why it was so long to send the vouchers and said some bullshit like the accounts have to process each one by one.

In summary: call and try again another day with a better manager. Make sure you get reference numbers so you can complain and in case they dont actually credit you. Also be stern but not abusive.

Did get an email to do a survey about my calls and will definitely be filling it out.

  • I haven't received the 20,000 bonus flybuys points as per their February offer. I contacted flybuys who told me that I had to wait 75 days before they would investigate. I informed them that people I know received their points several weeks ago (see posts here) and therefore it appeared to me there is a problem. I said that it is poor policy to tell a customer they won't look at a problem for 75 days and I should wait until 15th June before calling back. I asked to speak with a supervisor and after explaining myself again, the supervisor said she would investigate and get back to me by the end of the week.
