  • Will you throw in some games too ?

  • cheapest 24 month contract is the $45 per month plan for the Samsung GALAXY S4 Mini
    $35 My Plan + $10 handset repayment which includes 200 mins talk + 200 MB 1MB included data = $0.0500 + Unlimited Standard national SMS/MMS

Min. Total Cost is $1,080.00 over 24 months excluding any discounts. All for use within Australia.

  • Probably pay for ps3 3 times over.

    • It's not that cheap. Maybe 5 times

  • +5

seems more like advertising than any deal, if it was a ps4 I might consider it, but even then

  • +1

they have new SLIM ps3 120Gb?

they were EOL like 3 yrs ago?

  • +9

    So, for $1200 I can get a $500 clearance-model phone, a $300 old-model console, and a crappy plan with 200 mins and 200MB per month?

Might be some bargains in there, but its not immediately obvious.

    • +3

$35 a month for 200 mins and 200Mb is really really pathetic and scummy even for Telstra and this is a 2nd rate operator we're talking about here, ie. Optus

i think Telstra give you twice the data and talk for less… AND this is Telstra we are talking about!

  • I'm surprised they still have some 120GB PS3s left.

Unless you want the old style PS3, I don't think it's worth it:

    Prepaid Outright:
    PS3 Super Slim: $250
Sony Xperia Z Ultra 4G $433 (Unlocked @ JB HiFi)
Optus Prepaid Unlimited Calls + Unlimited Text + 500MB Data: $30 per month
    Total for 2YRS: $1403

    Postpaid Plan:
    PS3 120GB $0
    Sony Xperia Z Ultra 4G $0
Optus PostPaid Unlimited Calls + Unlimited Text + 3GB Data: $100 per month
    Total for 2YR Contract: $2400*

    Postpaid Plan:
    PS3 120GB $0
    Sony Xperia Z Ultra 4G $0
Optus PostPaid 450minutes worth of Calls + Unlimited Text + 500MB Data: $68 per month
    Total for 2YR Contract: $1360*

    .*may increase depending on usage

So the title should be changed to "Bogus PS3 for New Optus Mobile Customers"?

    • Hmm technically the 120gb PS3 is a bargain, since it's highly hackable, people pay top dollar for a brand new one.

      • This is a 3000 series slim ps3. It's not cfw hackable. It's ode hackable. So is the 4000 series slim ps3.

Anyone paying top dollar for these is making a foolish mistake. However that being said, this is easier to mod compared to 4000 series.

Fat ps3 with current version 3.55 is top dollar material.

  • What firmware revision is the PS3?

  • +1

How is this not a bargain? They are throwing in something extra on top of the usual plan and phone. Like Optus or not it is still an extra. You could choose not to take the PS3 and just sign up over the phone or in the shop and only get the phone and plan.

    • +1

Not a bargain, much better deals out there, PS3 500GB Console- $379 on dicksmith, I'm sure if you really wanted one you can find it cheaper
Much better phone deals for $45 a month including handset, i'm sure virgin or vodaphone have a few or just buy the phone outright without plan and pick and choose something that specifically fits you, 200mb and 200 mins really isn't all that, the likes probably could be found for <$30 from other companies

It's not a bargin for those looking for a gaming console. It's a bargin for people looking for a new phone contract or recon tract as instead of getting nothing apart from the usual phone and service.. they receive a ps3 to. Otherwise Why the world would anyone sign up for just the console.. it's a bonus for God's sake… if you look at it from that perspective which you should. . I don't see how it isn't a bargin.

  • What I am saying is that if you were looking for this plan and phone it is a bargain with the PS3 thrown in. We could easily argue that many of the bargains on here are not truly bargains if you compare against a different manufacturer or company using this same logic. Each to their own though.it just comes down to how you look at each specific bargain and what your interpretation is.

The PS3 is to give you something to do while you wait for things to download over their super slow connection.

  • i just finished changing from Optus to Telstra, don't go to optus, it's a trap

  • +1

This deal just got a bit sweeter with the launch of Optus' new plans.

e.g. LG G2 - $40 on the myPlan 35 = 300 mins + 500MB data = $960 over 24 months. Compared to their SIM only plans, that makes the phone $240 (the same plan is available for $30 SIM only).

additional 1GB of data is $10

    or LG G2 - $60 on the myPlan 60 = Unltd mins + 2GB data

The G2 comes with the Bonus Flipcase w/ Quickwindow and obviously the PS3.

These new myPlans also include data sharing which means for a one-off $5 fee (for an additional SIM), you can share the data with other devices you own (e.g. Tablet).
