Or you could go mechanical and never look back

    • Out of interest… Why is mechanical so good? I'm not a gamer so not sure if I'd benefit from it…

Mechanical keys just "feel" different when typing. They require more force to activate the key and have a audible "click" for each key press. A good analogy is HDMI audio and optical digital audio. Both do the same thing essentially and the end result is the same for most applications, just one "feels" like its the better option :)

        • Just did a quick search and found this… pretty cool!

I think this G510s has more benefits to the avid user… heaps of programmable keys and on board storage to keep your settings and the customisable LED lights are a nice gimicky touch to impress your cousins

Have you ever owned a mech keyboard? You don't seem to have a clue

        • You can get the same amount of features if not more on some mech keyboards. There is simply no comparing the precision and the feel you get from mechanical keys.

@Todes Angst No, they don't have to have an audible click or require more actuation force (the opposite is usually true).

        • You can get those features on a mechanical keyboard.

Mechanical keyboards are totally different - there are no rubber domes under the keys. They are infinitely nicer to type on, and last much longer. If I was going to spend $90 on a keyboard, I'd get a mechanical keyboard without hesitation. You could even splurge a little (one thing that's worth splurging on) and get something a bit nicer, too.

        • No, of course not. I post all my info from a position of ignorance with no evidence to back up my opinions.

  • Bought this about a month ago for my sister off ebay for a good price, and this one from DSE is even better… It's wired, but super customisable and easy to type on. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-G510s-wired-gaming-keybo…
DSE would obviously be Australian stock with the retailer warranty… if you're after a cheap gaming or enthusiast keyboard, this would be pretty close. Not sure about the benefits to mechanical though… I should Google it

While mechanical keyboards are good, they are expensive. This is probably logitechs 2nd best membrane keyboard. Coupled with the rainbow LED backlighting and LCD screen for $88 it's a good option for people who don't need a mechanical keyboard and who like "bling"

  • Mechanical keyboards do take awhile to get used to, however after some time you will develop an appreciation for mechanical keyboards.

  • I've never used a mechanical keyboard but I can honestly say I don't think I could love a keyboard more than this one.

  • I find the macro keys on this one great.
I use my Razer mech for typing and this for gaming due to the macro keys.
