Melbourne - Bali / $289 rtn [Royal Brunei Airlines/STA Travel]

200

Melbourne to Bali (1 stopover in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei) on Royal Brunei Airlines from $289. I've checked the dates, and sure enough I could find it for that price.

Royal Brunei Airlines is not a low-cost carrier, so baggage/entertainment and food/drinks are included on board. RB IS a "dry airline", so they don't serve alcohol onboard, but you can buy something in duty free and have it served on board.

Seems like its a STA Travel "exclusive"; as other booking engines are showing 500-600$ for the same fare.

    Via Ash Cloud…

    • This is for flights months away, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry, I must have brought my sense of humour with me today…

  • Is this return?! Are you certain?

    • Correct! :)

  • Royal Brunei are a great airline considering the cost of airfare. Flew with them to London and back, no complaints. While a bit of an annoyance with the stopover, this price is amazing.

  • Great deal, shame only from MEL. But the 10 hour layover DPS-BWN-MEL in Brunei is tough.

Seems to be valid, the STA website takes me all the way to payment screen.

Just take advantage of the stop over, get a $15 visa and explore BSB

    • which date for below $300?

  • Doesn't work on all dates? I'm booking in mid September, no results…

  • Anyone knows what happens if you no show for the Bali legs? Booking same flight without Bali is twice the price.

Usually the rest of your trip will be cancelled.

    • They cancel your return leg

  • Could this be a problem?
"Exclusive cheap flights for students and youth under 31"

    • No, if you select adult It still shows the same price. Sta travel don't just sell to u30/student.

    NO YOU CANT!
International law prohibits the consumption of duty free alcohol on board aircrafts

Flew with them once, same plane as those budget plane , same sub standard services , except you are getting full meals and annoying extra long….. flight and long ….. stop over in a rundown and one of most boring airport especially in a long length flights . better off you save enough money from buying extra gadgets offered in ozbargain and get direct flights to Bali with more reputable airlines. After all you wanna a relaxing "return holiday " to Bali, so save yourself the trouble and hassle including customs hassle in Brunei that make your Brunei flight home becoming "boring flight home " . That's my 2 cents.

Also. Both countries are Muslim countries with strict laws that prohibit certain things, however Bali has more understanding towards tourist antics while I am not so sure about Brunei authorities and anyone flying through Brunei from Bali better be wiser than sorry.

This is $289 return on a full service airline including meals, luggage & entertainment. I seriously do not understand the point in your comment for such an amazing deal.

What on earth does the airline coming from a Islamic country have to do with anything most of the worlds best airlines are based in Islamic countries
      Emirates
      Etihad
      Qatar
      Gulf Air
      Oman Air
      Malaysia Airlines etc

Direct with a more reputable airline. Direct services from Australia to Bali are mostly LCC (Jetstar, Air Asia, Virgin etc) excluding Garuda (Which untill recently was banned from the EU)

MEL to BSB is on a 787 Dreamliner. So no not the same as "those budget plane" and you get IFE, In seat power, Pillows & Blankets all included.

And with that oh so boring airport.. its a long stop over on the return leg yes but it is in the day time so go out and explore Bandar Seri Begawan, i met some very friendly people last time i was there and visited some interesting places.. Thats my 2 cents ;)

since you worry too much about how strict the Muslim countries are, what are you planning to do anyway??

    • It's a cheap deal - but tanastra's advice may be relevant to some people who fervently support women's rights, religious freedoms and homosexuality rights (which have declined further under recently imposed universal Sharia law). The new laws apparently apply to "everyone" until further notice. In practice the vast majority of tourists won't engage in theft, sodomy and adultery during a 4 hour visit but after watching "What really happens in Bali?"…

Thanks op! Booked with the 2 for 1 deal ended up paying $800 for two incl return flights and 7 nights accommodation!

    • If you dont mind saying what is the hotel called that was included in the deal?

      • same, where is that deal?

        • Sorry for the late reply! STA had a 2 for one deal going on their homepage, any hotel more than 3 stars will qualify for the deal. It was only for the first 20 bookings though!
